15 Reasons to Travel to Gualala and Point Arena California

April 27, 2022 | More: Gualala and Point Arena California| Why Travel to

If you’ve been planning a trip to Northern California, you’ll be glad to know that Gualala and Point Arena are both within driving distance. These two coastal towns are known for their great wineries, beaches, and beautiful natural landscapes. Here are a few of the top spots to visit during your visit to Mendocino County. If you’re looking for a lighthouse, you’ll love this lighthouse, which sits just two miles from Point Arena. The lighthouse is part of the Fort Point Group, and features a small museum and gift shop.

For beach lovers, there’s Point Arena Lighthouse. You can visit this historical structure, which stands 115 feet high and is open to the public for tours. It also offers vacation rentals with panoramic views of the coastline. The Point Arena Lighthouse is another popular spot, and is located on the property of the Gualala and Point Arena merchants. It’s an impressive landmark for visitors to visit. Getting around Point Arena is a breeze, thanks to the small town atmosphere.

Another historic site, Point Arena is located just 14 miles north of Gualala. It’s one of four actual cities in Mendocino county. Though it’s the smallest of the four, this small town has a fascinating history. It was incorporated in 1898 to control liquor licenses, and is dotted with 19th century buildings. The pier itself is still in use, though there are some dangerous rocks in the area.

While Point Arena and Gualala are located north of each other in Northern California, they are distinct in their appearances. Point Arena is the smallest incorporated city in Northern California. It was incorporated in 1908, but is a township that stretches from the Gualala River to Elk Creek. The area is also known for its lighthouse. These are just some of the reasons why visitors to the area are a must.

In addition to the imposing lighthouse, Point Arena is home to a scenic coastline and easy hiking. Known as a quaint fishing village, this coastal hamlet is also home to one of the country’s tallest lighthouses. The unpaved Bluff Top Trail links Gualala Point to Salal Trail, Sea Ranch, and Sea Ranch coastal access trails. Enjoy the view while soaking in the area’s natural beauty and culture.

Visitors to Point Arena and Gualala can experience a wide variety of cultural activities in the region. The town is home to a nonprofit arts center and a unique July 4 Parade. Point Arena’s tallest lighthouse is climbable, and the town has a vibrant artist community. Residents of the two towns can enjoy live music and telecasts from the Metropolitan Opera and London National Theater. For those seeking a cultural experience, the local theater offers a variety of performances.

In addition to the renowned arts scene, the area is home to a vibrant performing arts community and a history that includes Native American and early Californian cultures. A sawmill on Iversen Road was constructed by the Holm family in 1955. The partnership provided funding to Stanley Arasmith, and the company employed construction workers for the mill. Afterwards, the company began production on a new facility. The community’s growth has led to the addition of the Point Arena-Stornetta Public Lands to the California Coastal National Monument.
