There are many reasons to visit Knoxville Tennessee. Visitors can enjoy the city’s natural beauty. The city is home to several parks, including the Knoxville Nature Park, Ijams Nature Center, and the University of Tennessee Botanical Gardens. Located three miles outside of downtown, these parks feature nature trails, boardwalks along the Tennessee River, and out-of-service marble quarries. Visitors can take a picnic, enjoy an outdoor rock climbing area, or attend a museum or art gallery.

The city’s cultural sites include the Eastern Tennessee History Center and the McClung Museum. Visitors can also enjoy the city’s riverfront parks, botanical gardens, and Cherokee Caverns. Downtown Knoxville includes the Market Square, the Knoxville Museum of Art, and the Riverfront, where they can watch a live performance. Evenings are best spent enjoying local music and dining at the many restaurants. Regardless of your interests, you’re sure to find something to make your stay in Knoxville Tennessee memorable.

While visiting Knoxville, don’t miss the murals that cover the city’s buildings. These works of art are created by local and visiting artists and depict historical events. Many of these murals are located within a few blocks of Market Square, while others are located on the other side of the river. The downtown area contains a diverse collection of architectural styles. Greek Revival, Victorian, and Gothic are all represented within the city’s downtown. While visiting Knoxville Tennessee, be sure to visit the city’s museums. The Knoxville Museum of Art features the works of artists from around the world, including contemporary glass art and current East Tennessee art. A unique art installation created by artist Richard Jolley is on display here. There are also rotating temporary exhibits and other events. If you are visiting during the University of Tennessee football season, make sure to avoid the city center area during the game.

A downtown market is another way to explore the city’s culinary scene. Market Square Farmer’s Market is part of the Nourish Knoxville project, which aims to improve community relations by supplying healthy food. Located in the open air of downtown Knoxville, the market is a popular dining destination for locals and visitors alike. You can buy groceries, enjoy lunch, or even pick up a unique gift to take home.

Near downtown Knoxville, Sunsphere is one of the city’s most popular attractions. Built during the 1982 World’s Fair, this structure has undergone numerous updates since it first opened. A free observation deck and murals tell the story of Knoxville’s history. At the top of the structure, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree view of Knoxville. If you are a fan of music, you might want to check out the Knoxville Amphitheater.
