15 Reasons to Travel to Lake Tahoe

May 6, 2022 | More: Lake Tahoe| Why Travel to

Many visitors to Lake Tahoe are astonished at the sheer size of the place. In fact, this lake is bigger than London! The craggy peaks of the Sierra Nevada range can be viewed from above, and the area is a perfect destination for hiking, biking, and skiing. But what’s its history? Here’s a short list of interesting facts. And if you have the time, why not take a paddlewheel boat tour?

The area’s public beaches are another great way to enjoy the water and cool down. There are dozens of public beaches, but keep in mind that parking can be a challenge during the peak summer season. Lake Tahoe can be chilly, with temperatures as low as 53 degrees Fahrenheit eighteen inches below the surface. Wetsuits are recommended but not required. In addition, a lot of public beaches are crowded, so be sure to arrive early to avoid the crowds.

You can enjoy the outdoors year-round in Lake Tahoe. From hiking and biking to swimming and water sports, you will find an endless supply of activities to satisfy any kind of visitor. There are plenty of docks and marinas for boaters to use. The region is very family-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend as well! But keep in mind that some businesses may be closed for global health and safety issues, so check ahead before traveling!

For the best view of the area, rent a car. The cost of a rental car is around $100 per day. Enterprise and Budget offer car rental services, and there are several options at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. It’s also a great idea to get a local taxi service to take you from the airport. You can also take a guided tour to nearby parks, including Yosemite and Bodie.

While breweries are rare in California, a number of them are located in neighboring Nevada. While the Hangar does not make its own beer, it does have a large beer garden in the summer and a dozen or so taps. The beer list is impressive, with breweries from Michigan, Oregon, and California. The brewery doesn’t serve food, but it is worth a visit for those interested in the beer scene.

Whether you’re an avid skier or a novice, you’re sure to find your perfect slope in Lake Tahoe. With 16 world-class ski resorts, it’s easy to see why Lake Tahoe is a mecca for winter sports enthusiasts. And even if it doesn’t snow, there’s plenty to do. With over 125 inches of snow on average each year, the scenery can be spectacular. Heavenly Gondola, located in South Lake Tahoe, provides access to an impressive array of slopes for everyone’s skill level.

If skiing isn’t your thing, try a snowboarding resort. Tahoe is home to the world’s highest altitude. In addition to a world-class snowboarding center, Lake Tahoe offers many other activities. There’s even a mountain biking track. You can do them all in one day! You’ll be in awe of the natural beauty surrounding the lake! Soda Springs Mountain Resort is one such place.
