15 Reasons to Travel to Morro Bay California

May 31, 2022 | More: Morro Bay California| Why Travel to

If you’re looking for a fun way to burn some calories on your vacation, there are plenty of things to do in Morro Bay. There are several activities that are sure to keep you entertained, including kayaking, whale watching, and other water sports. The area is also well-known for its surfing, which is especially fun at Morro Rock. This popular surf spot is perfect for beginners as well as intermediate surfers.

Fishing is another popular activity in Morro Bay. Local charter fishing companies provide day-long and private fishing tours. Sportfishing is a fun activity for the whole family, and local guides can help beginners learn how to fish. You can even hire a fishing guide to show you the ropes if you don’t have much experience. The Audubon Society has cited Morro Bay as a world-class bird-watching location.

While you’re in town, you can stop at Dorn’s Original Breakers Cafe for some fresh seafood. This local favorite has been serving up fresh seafood since 1942. The Dutchman’s Seafood House, meanwhile, serves fresh seafood from its docks. Dog owners can also find dozens of pet-friendly vacation rentals and lodging options in the area. Many restaurants also welcome small dogs. The beaches in the area aren’t very crowded and offer a chance to take the pet with you on vacation.

Visitors should also visit the town’s historic downtown and charming old town. The city is home to the impressive Morro Rock, a volcanic monolith that rises 576 feet above the ocean. It is a nesting place for peregrine falcons. In addition, it’s known for its outdoor adventure opportunities and shopping. In addition to its waterfront activities, Morro Bay also has a thriving downtown shopping district.

While visiting Morro Bay, don’t forget to visit the State Park. It features a public 18-hole golf course, as well as a plethora of trails and activities. You can also rent kayaks and canoes. If you’re feeling more active, you can try paddleboarding or kayaking. If you’re not a sports fan, you can also visit the public golf course.

For an oceanfront vacation, head north to the three-mile Morro Strand State Beach. This scenic beach is home to a variety of wildlife, including long-billed curlew birds and flowering ice plants. Despite its popular status, Morro Bay isn’t yet overrun with tourists looking to catch a glimpse of Finding Dory. It has a laid-back vibe and a great location for picnics and long walks. You’ll find plenty of wildlife, but keep an eye out for shark attacks.
