15 Reasons to Travel to Pismo Beach California

June 8, 2022 | More: Pismo Beach California| Why Travel to

You can spend your next vacation on the Pacific coast in the beautiful town of Pismo Beach. You can enjoy the perfect waves for beginners and advanced surfers alike. Pismo Beach is home to several surf shops where you can rent the proper equipment. Those who want to learn how to surf can also take advantage of local surf camps. Sandbar Surf and Pismo Beach Surf School offer lessons for beginners and those who want to improve their skills.

For those who prefer to stay close to the beach, the city has many natural attractions. There’s the 11-acre public park, which once featured a giant concrete dinosaur. Though that novelty dinosaur has long since been removed, the park’s natural features and shoreline are still worth visiting. The park is also home to a sea cave. Whether you prefer hiking or cycling, Pismo Beach has plenty to offer.

If you prefer to drive, the Santa Barbara airport is 86 miles south of the city of Pismo. From there, it will take about 3.5 hours to reach the coastal town of Pismo Beach. Because Pismo Beach is situated on the central coast, it has a mild climate year-round. However, it may be rainy in the early spring. If you are looking for a more active vacation, you can try horseback riding.

For those who want to explore the history of Pismo Beach, you’ll have to travel to the neighboring town of San Luis Obispo. During this time, you can also explore historic castles and charming beachside towns. Whether you’re looking for a great place to go fishing, or looking for a place to take your family for a relaxing vacation, Pismo Beach has something for everyone.

If you’re looking for more upscale dining options, you’ll find the Oyster Loft next door. The restaurant features regional seafood dishes and upscale fare. Try their small plate of charbroiled oysters. Other options include the grilled Skuna Bay salmon and the classic pismo’s famous pizza and chowder house. You can also enjoy a meal of shave ice or a curried New England crab.

For lunch, head to the Splash Cafe, a popular pismo Beach restaurant with a long history in the community. It’s regularly awarded first place in Pismo’s annual Clam Festival. Located on Pomeroy Avenue, Splash’s colorful seaside decor is sure to make you feel like a surfer. Try the clam chowder served in a sourdough bread bowl.

You can also try your hand at kayaking. Central Coast Kayak offers guided tours of the coastline. The Surf Shop and Dive Shop also rent kayaks. Alternatively, if you don’t want to rent equipment, you can launch your kayak from the stairs north of Margo Dodd Park in Shell Beach. The waters around the town are ideal for kayaking, so head to Pismo Beach today. There are numerous things to do in Pismo Beach California.
