There are a few things you should know about shopping in Portland, Oregon. The city is devoid of chain stores and generic stores, and there are plenty of independent boutiques and arts and crafts shops. You can find everything from the Oregon boot maker Danner to Self Edge denim outlets. If you want to spend some time shopping for art, you can visit the Portland Saturday Market, which is held on the waterfront every Saturday from 10am to 5pm.

If you love reading, you should visit the largest independent bookstore in the world, Powell’s Books. The Oregon State Museum of Science and Industry is a favorite with children. Exhibits here are interactive and engaging, and there are often traveling exhibits you can see. You can also take your kids to the Chinese or Japanese Gardens to see some of the city’s unique landscapes. No matter what you do, you’ll find plenty of outdoor activities in Portland, Oregon.

Mount Tabor is a dormant volcano in Southeast Portland, named after an Israeli mountain. The park was created in 1903 and features scenic trails, monuments, and long gardens with native plants. At almost 200 acres, Mount Tabor offers a stunning backdrop for a spectacular sunset and is a popular spot for families and couples. This park also features tennis and basketball courts, public art, and even a planetarium. You can also take in a movie or a show at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, or take in a concert or festival.

Portland Oregon is close to major Pacific Northwest destinations, including the Oregon Coast and Columbia River Gorge. A leisurely day in Portland will leave you inspired to visit other parts of the region. It’s also close to many of the state’s best-known attractions. But be sure to check out the health and safety issues in advance to avoid getting ripped off by scam artists. If you’re not an art lover, don’t worry; there are plenty of art museums and galleries in Portland.

While you’re in the city, don’t let the weather limit your culinary adventures. Portland is known as the “foodiest city in America.” And the food is fresh and high-quality. Local produce is plentiful, and farmers markets dot the cityscape. You can sample a wide array of ethnic foods and street food at local markets. The city also boasts over 600 food carts. For vegetarians, there are plenty of options in Portland.

When it comes to choosing a hotel in Portland, there are a few options to choose from. Each neighborhood is different from the next, so choose yours according to your interests and travel itinerary. If you have a car, you can stay in the Pearl District. The area is located north of downtown Portland and has a more hip and trendy vibe than the rest of the city. The Northwest District is more residential and close to the Pearl District, and the Mississippi Neighborhood is fun and eclectic.
