If you’ve ever wanted to travel to Rock Springs, Wyoming, you’ve come to the right place. Rock Springs is a city in Sweetwater County. At the 2010 census, the city’s population was 23,036, making it the fifth most populated city in the state. It is also the most populous city in Sweetwater County. Here are some things to keep in mind when visiting Rock Springs. Let’s start with some basics.

Located in western Wyoming, the city of Rock Springs is convenient for travelers. Just off Interstate 80, the city is 178 miles from the state’s capital, Jackson. The scenic drive from Jackson offers spectacular vistas and open pastures. As the center of energy and transportation in the region, Rock Springs has seen both energy booms and busts. The city has managed to rebuild from its once dirty industrial reputation. For example, its population has increased tenfold since the end of the energy boom.

The city’s population increased by 23 percent since the last census. At the time of the census, the population was around 19,000, a level which may be sustainable for decades. By 2010, the population had reached 23,000, a 23 percent increase over the year 2000. Although the increase was not significant, it is notable that the population in Rock Springs continues to rise. The population is expected to reach 30,000 by 2020, which would be a record high.

There are a few notable landmarks in Rock Springs. In 1903, 40 percent of businesses were bars. A number of soft-drink parlors served Kemmerer moonshine, made with 100 train cars of grapes. The city continues to thrive in the nightlife scene, with various venues serving local brews and live country and western music. Before the boom in 1870, this town was only a small mining town. However, it was a hotbed for development. The town grew quickly and opened coal mines. The town grew with the arrival of Union Pacific and other coal companies. The burgeoning industry required a large labor force. This demand led to the arrival of Chinese immigrants, which accounted for half of the town’s population. Despite the hardships, Chinese workers remained one of the largest groups in the town, and their contributions to the community’s economic development has made it one of the most progressive cities in Wyoming.

While many households in Rock Springs, WY use different forms of transportation, they are mostly reliant on their vehicles. Rock Springs Wyoming is home to the largest proportion of households that own two cars and are false about their car ownership. Ninety-five percent of the population is covered by health insurance. Those households on group health insurance are 64%, while the other 25% are either Medicare-certified or Medicaid-approved. A further 1.02% of Rock Springs, WY residents are covered by military or VA plans.

There are several historical sites worth visiting in Rock Springs. One website that is devoted to Wyoming history includes a photo of the Rock Springs Coal sign.
