15 Reasons to Travel to Salt Lake City

June 23, 2022 | More: Salt Lake City| Why Travel to

The Mormon Church settled in Salt Lake City in 1847. In 1847, they migrated to the area from the Mexican Territory in search of a secluded area in which to practice their religion. They hoped to escape persecution in the United States and to practice their faith more freely. Mormon leader Brigham Young is reported to have said, “This is the place for us.” He had seen the Salt Lake Valley in a vision before the wagon train arrived. However, upon arrival, they discovered that the valley was not inhabited.

Among the top attractions of Salt Lake City are the museums and galleries. If you’re an art lover, you can tour the Temple and Church History Museum. You can even attend a Mormon-related event. The city has numerous events and attractions for all kinds of visitors.

One of the city’s most iconic landmarks is the Mormon Temple, which was constructed between 1853 and 1893. The building features three towers and an elaborate gilded angel named Moroni. The temple’s North Visitors’ Center offers a detailed model of the interior. Visitors can also view a video about the Mormon Temple’s history. The family history library is another interesting place to visit in Salt Lake City. You can explore the historical records of the Mormons from the Temple and visit a museum dedicated to their religion.

If you’re traveling with children, you can take them to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. It’s conveniently located on the eastern outskirts of the city and is easily accessible from downtown. The zoo’s 42-acre space is home to over 800 different species of animals from all over the world. It has seven major exhibits. The Salt Lake Valley is the perfect place to take photographs. If you’re looking for some fun activities for the entire family, you can check out the city’s many museums.

The Avenues neighborhood is Salt Lake City’s most historic district. It’s laid out in a grid system, and the streets are numbered accordingly. The Avenues neighborhood contains several attractions related to Mormonism, including the grave of Mormon founder Brigham Young. The Avenues are also a creative district, featuring a hip art gallery and great restaurants. The mountain scenery is overshadowed by the picturesque views. If you’re looking for an authentic experience, the Avenues are definitely worth visiting.

The State Capitol’s garden is a pleasant green space. The Mormon Battalion Monument is also located here. The riverside garden is also beautiful, and the pathways there are perfect for strolling. You can also enjoy shopping at City Creek, a quaint shopping district south of Temple Square. This is a great place to meet citizens of Salt Lake City while you’re there. So, what are you waiting for? Enjoy your trip!
