15 Reasons to Travel to Savannah Georgia

June 27, 2022 | More: Savannah Georgia| Why Travel to

If you’re planning a trip to Savannah Georgia, there are a few things you need to know before you go. The historic downtown was on the verge of destruction. Developers decided it would be cheaper to tear down existing buildings and build new ones. The result is a collection of ugly buildings that stick out among the gorgeous historic district. In order to avoid this, you’ll want to bring bug spray. This way, you’ll be able to protect yourself against the pesky bugs and see more of this Southern city.

The job market in Savannah is strong. Its primary industries are tourism, manufacturing, and the port. About twelve million tourists come to Savannah each year, spending $2 billion. Despite the high number of tourists, this charming city is also ideal for families with young children. For those with young children, the Mother Matilda Beasley Park features 2 playgrounds, a dog park, multiple sports fields, and a pavilion. If you have a limited budget, consider joining a carpool.

The city has a vibrant historic district filled with restaurants and shops. The Historic District is the best place to walk around during your stay. It is also the place to catch live music and attend an open air concert. However, be warned: the streets can get very crowded after dark, so make sure you plan your trip around the hours that are most convenient for you. Savannah is also home to one of the most iconic movie settings in the world, “Forrest Gump.”

While the weather in Savannah is pleasant all year round, it can still be cool at night. A few days of rain are normal, but temperatures still remain comfortable. Bring plenty of layers, and you’ll be able to enjoy the city’s outdoor activities. Using a restaurant reservation service like OpenTable can help you make the best choice based on the time of year. You can preview the menu online before making a reservation. You can also check the weather forecast before booking a meal.

If you’re traveling with kids, the Tricentennial Park is an excellent destination for the whole family. The park contains three museums, including the Savannah Children’s Museum and Savannah History Museum. Both of these museums are designed for children, making them a great destination for families on a budget. For adults, a visit to Leopold’s Café is a must-do when you’re visiting Savannah Georgia. You’ll be rewarded with a meal that’s both delicious and healthy!

The city was once home to a progressive leader. Savannah’s residents demanded the ability to compete with Charleston, which they considered to be a rich, stupid city. Despite being a progressive city, the residents felt petty about Charleston, so they legalized slavery in 1750. The colony also banned Catholics – but not for nearly as long as the other three. In the aftermath, Irish Catholics washed up in the area and was allowed to settle in Savannah as a result.
