If you’ve never been to the Kennebunks, you are missing out on a treat! This charming coastal town in York County is a must-see! The town has a population of approximately 11,536 people as of the 2020 census. You can find plenty of things to do in The Kennebunks! Keep reading for some essential tips to make the most of your trip! We’ve compiled a list of the top things to do in the area!

Visit Pier Road, where you can watch lobster fishermen haul in their catch each day. There, you can taste different kinds of lobster delicacies. You can also check out the Brick Store Museum, where you can immerse yourself in the local culture, art, and history. This museum is open all year round! And don’t forget to enjoy the beautiful sunsets over the Kennebunk River! This coastal Maine destination will be a perfect wedding location.

While in town, you should stop in Federal Jack’s and check out the Shipyard Brewing Company. If you’re a beer enthusiast, Federal Jack’s offers brewery tours and a Maine Brewing Vacation. Federal Jack’s also features an extensive pub menu, including cask-conditioned brews. You can enjoy your evening with an adult beverage in Kennebunkport’s ambiance. And if you’re hungry, try a delicious Maine lobster dish from the Ocean Inn!

The town is packed with historic buildings and mansions. You can stay in one of these historic properties and explore the town by bike. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The town has many art galleries and a local fire chief who will give you some off-the-brochure tips for your stay. While you’re there, check out the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust for more information on the town and its surrounding environment.

The town is also home to the former U.S. Custom House. During the War of 1812, the British seized Kennebunkport’s mouth, and all shipbuilding was halted. The war also caused the town’s ship carpenters to become idle. The town had an influential mayor, Nathaniel Lord, who was an avid shipowner and merchant. While he was absent, his wife and their children lived here.

For a romantic dinner, you can head to The Kennebunks. You’ll find plenty of waterfront restaurants, including historic buildings. Local favorites include the Bandaloop, which has a rustic ambiance and uses organic ingredients from local farms. A favorite of many tourists, the restaurant has won awards for its lobster Savannah. Moreover, you can even dine at the local pub, The Boathouse, which boasts a fine collection of local and regional wines.

The Waterfront Grill is another popular destination for a romantic dinner. The cozy restaurant is located in a prime location for sunset views. The restaurant’s menu includes lobster pizza, Maine blueberry kuchen, and steak. To top it all, you can order a glass of Maine wine or a homemade vanilla bean ice cream. And don’t forget to try the infamous Maine Blueberry Kuchen. You’ll be glad you did!
