15 Reasons to Travel to Vancouver Washington

July 18, 2022 | More: Vancouver Washington| Why Travel to

In the late 18th century, Europeans first came to Vancouver and made contact with the Native Americans. In the mid-19th century, however, the Native Americans were decimated by smallpox, which killed off most of the native population. As more white-collar workers from Hawaii and other places relocated to the Pacific Northwest, Vancouver grew. By the turn of the century, however, Vancouver was an important seaport and the population continued to grow.

Although rain is almost constant in Vancouver, its rainy season can be exciting for outdoor enthusiasts. A rainstorm in the middle of summer can turn into a torrential downpour in the city’s streets, so it is imperative to invest in waterproof jackets and umbrellas. Rainfall in Vancouver makes the area lush and verdant. Hiking trails in the Columbia River Gorge and Cascade Mountains are particularly beautiful. In addition, a sunny day in Vancouver Washington can be just as fun, and you’ll be able to watch wildlife in the city.

A day trip from Vancouver can take you to Mount St. Helens and the Columbia River Gorge. Visitors can also take a boat trip through the Gorge, which runs through the Cascade Mountains. Alternatively, you can take a scenic river cruise to see Mount St. Helens and its famous volcanic crater. Another exciting outdoor activity in Vancouver is a visit to Beacon Rock, the second-largest monolith in the world. The city’s historic airfield is still used for military flights. You can also take a bike tour through the city and enjoy its beautiful landscape.

For the history buff, there is the historic city of Vancouver Barracks. This is where the famous explorers Lewis and Clark set up their camp in the early 1800s. While you’re here, you can explore the history and architecture of this historic city. You’ll find plenty of fascinating attractions to delight all your senses. Vancouver’s waterfront offers plenty of options for outdoor activities and scenic drives. The city is also home to several excellent museums and historic buildings.

As the fourth largest city in Washington, Vancouver is located on the Columbia River, just across the Oregon border. The Columbia River Gorge cuts through the volcanic Cascade Range and the Willamette River enters it. The Cascade and Coast Ranges surround Vancouver, and Mount St. Helens, Mount Rainier and Mount Jefferson are all visible from Vancouver. While the city has a relatively low population, there is still plenty of opportunity to explore the outdoors.

The city’s population is fairly diverse. Approximately 37% of the population was under the age of 18, while another 12.1% was between 18-24 years. The rest of the population was between 25 and 64 years old, and just 10.7% was 65 and older. The median age of the city was 33 years. Males outnumbered females 96.9 to 1 (men outnumbered females, and there were approximately three females for every 100 males).
