The city of Winston Salem, North Carolina is located in the state of North Carolina. The city is home to many famous companies such as Blue Rhino, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, and ISP Sports. Today, Winston Salem is known as a center of innovation and technology. Several of the state’s universities are located in the city, as well. However, it is still possible to enjoy small-town Americana in Winston-Salem without sacrificing large-city amenities.

Visitors can visit the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, or MESDA, in Winston-Salem. This museum is housed in the former home of tobacco baron R.J. Reynolds and contains the largest collection of American art in the south. Another museum worth visiting is the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, which features original southern decorative arts including paintings, textiles, and furniture. While visiting the museum, be sure to enjoy the art in the local shops.

Founded in 1849, Winston is a city in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. It is a thriving city that is home to several historical sites and cultural attractions. It also has a thriving industrial scene, producing furniture, textiles, and tobacco. In 1851, Winston became the county seat, and the courthouse square is just one mile north of Salem. The city is also home to several wineries and breweries.

There are four colleges in Winston-Salem, including the nationally-renowned Wake Forest University. The Wake Forest University, which was originally located in Wake Forest, North Carolina, moved to Winston-Salem in 1956. The city also had a history of Jim Crow policies after the civil war, and it was only after the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Civil Rights Act of 1968 that the city finally integrated and made the transition to the modern era.

Public transportation in Winston-Salem is provided by the Winston-Salem Transit Authority, which took over the operations of Safe Bus Company in 1972. Safe Bus Company was the largest black-owned transportation company in the U.S. At the time of its acquisition, the company employed over 7,000 people. In 2009, it was the second largest employer in the city, after R. J. Reynolds. For a while, the town was home to Wachovia Corporation, but it closed down in 2001.

The city of Winston-Salem has a diverse population of nearly two hundred thousand (2010). Its racial composition includes whites, blacks, and Hispanics. About two percent is Latino, and the rest is mixed-race. Nearly 54 percent of its residents identify with a religious group. The largest denomination is the Baptist church, while Methodists make up another 12 percent. The city’s Art District is also home to the Sawtooth Center for the Visual Arts, and there are plans for a restaurant/music district.

There are more than 20 microbreweries in Winston-Salem, including Foothills Brewing Company. This brewery was the first microbrewery in North Carolina. Foothills Brewing Company, which opened in 2005, has a pour-your-own craft beer wall. The brewery also offers monthly classes and tours. Sexual Chocolate Imperial Stout is one of their most popular brews. If you have a chance to visit, be sure to try a local brew while you’re in town.
