Castine, Maine is a small town in Hancock County in eastern Maine. As of the 2020 Census, the town had a population of 1,320. It is home to the Maine Maritime Academy, a four-year institution that prepares students for careers as marine engineers and officers in the United States Merchant Marine. There are more than 1000 students enrolled at the academy. Whether you’re looking for an exciting job in the maritime industry or a great place to live, Castine has a lot to offer.

The town has a rich history, and has been occupied by the French, Dutch, and English. The town was a prominent trading center during the American Revolution and is the site of the Maine Maritime Academy. The downtown area has a variety of architectural treasures and offers fine dining, shops, and galleries. If you’re interested in the city’s history, you’ll love the Wilson Museum, which has pre-historic artifacts, a ship model, and a reconstructed kitchen from 1805.

The historic Inns are located on the higher end of Main Street. The lower end of Main Street is dominated by shops. The MarKel’s Bakehouse is a great place to have breakfast.
