The town of Del Rio Texas was founded in 1876 by James Taylor, who left all of his property to his wife, Paula. He later married Charles Rivers, and their child, Joseph, also died in 1879. The couple made their home in the area and became major benefactors. They donated land to the school system, built the first Catholic church, and helped to build Camp and other institutions. They are buried in the cemetery in the city.

If you’re looking for a place to relax and unwind, check out the Whitehead Memorial Museum, a nonprofit history museum that’s located in the city center. This place is filled with local arts and natural and social sciences. You can visit the museum on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 6pm, and on Sundays, from noon to 5pm. Fiesta Celebrations are held throughout the year in Del Rio, starting with Cinco de Mayo. The town hosts the oldest independent bull riding event, the George Paul Memorial Bull Riding. This event attracts locals and visitors from all over the world. The city also hosts an annual chess tournament and arts and crafts exhibition. You’ll find that the weather is pleasant year-round. In addition to festivals, the city hosts many community events.

Although the city is a frontier town, the city is also home to Laughlin Air Force Base, the busiest training facility of the United States Air Force. The town’s lake is home to some of the best bass fishing in the state. The oldest Native American cave paintings in North America are in Del Rio. The town is also home to Val Verde Winery, the oldest winery in Texas. In recent years, the town has become an international hub for the music industry and is an important part of regional life.
