15 Reasons Why you should Stay in Exeter New Hampshire

March 17, 2022 | More: Exeter New Hampshire| Why Travel to

Exeter, New Hampshire is a town in the state of New Hampshire. The population was 16,049 at the 2010 census, up from 14,306 in 2010. The town was the county seat until 1997 when the county offices moved to neighboring Brentwood. As of 2010, there were about 24,000 residents in the town. The population of the town was estimated at 16,049 at the 2020 census. If you are considering moving to Exeter, you might want to consider this guide.

In the 18th century, Exeter had a population of 6,421. This was up from a population of 2,000 in 1760. It grew by 23 percent between 1970 and 1980, ranking it the ninth largest city in the state. The city of Exeter occupies a total area of 19.8 square miles, including 0.3 square miles of inland water. This makes Exeter an ideal vacation destination for those looking to spend some time in the seacoast region.

Exeter was home to a large garrison, with several buildings serving as watch-houses. In 1647, it was presented to the court in Ipswich for lack of a watch-house. There is no mention of this incident in the court records of the town, but it was still considered a threat to its security. However, the town soon constructed a watch-house on the back of its meetinghouse. The town records also mention a large fort near the Congregational Church. Before 1690, the town also had the Gilman Garrison House and Sewall Garrison House.

Although there is no official incorporation, the town’s government has always been comprised of town meeting and selectmen. Many of the problems that faced Exeter in the nineteenth century are still present today. These include funding the construction of new town buildings, maintaining roads, and purchasing new fire engines. In the 19th century, the temperance issue was a major issue. For example, the 1812 town meeting passed a law limiting the sale of spirituous liquors to one apothecary and limiting its use to medicinal and art purposes.

Exeter was a small frontier town that remained isolated for several years. Despite its small population, it had to fight against animus from the towns in Massachusetts. The town had a number of important issues that were resolved at the town level, including a twenty-foot meetinghouse and a church. The town’s names were often spelled out as “townsmen” in the records, but there is no consensus on these terms.

The city was a small town that had a large black community in the 17th century. In 1887, there were 81 free Black people in 14 households, and only two were enslaved. That was the highest percentage of Black people in the state, and it grew rapidly. This is one of the reasons the city has a rich history. Its rich history is a testimony to its thriving economy.
