15 Reasons Why you should Stay in Fort Collins Colorado

March 24, 2022 | More: Fort Collins Colorado| Why Travel to

This northern Colorado city has lots to offer visitors from all walks of life. Old Town is a charming historic district with 1800s houses, a vintage trolley, specialty shops, restaurants, and more. The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery features interactive exhibits and a digital dome theater. You can also visit the Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, which is known for its Horsetooth Rock formation and Horsetooth Falls. There are several other places of interest in Fort Collins, so you’ll want to make time to explore them all.

The city was first settled in 1885, and was the sixth city in the state. It was founded in 1900, and the first public library in the state. Andrew Carnegie donated $12,500 to build the Fort Collins Public Library. It was finished in 1904 and cost more than $15,000. The town’s library system was expanded in 2006, resulting in three branches: the Old Town Library, the Harmony library, and the Council Tree branch. The Old Town Library is located in downtown Fort Collins, while the Harmony branch is located at the Front Range Community College.

You can enjoy the outdoors in Fort Collins in summer. The Colorado River is a great place for swimming, but be sure to dress appropriately – the water is still cold. If you’re looking for a more refreshing experience, you can head to the nearby Horsetooth Reservoir. This six-mile-long lake offers a range of water sports and even a t-shirt to show off your favorite brew.

If you’re in the mood to kick back and relax, Fort Collins has many great places to stay. The downtown area hosts many festivals, such as NewWestFest and Bohemian Nights. You can also enjoy a local performance at the Lincoln Center, which is home to the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra. Throughout the year, the Lincoln Center attracts national touring Broadway plays. You can also find plenty of art in Fort, with galleries, museums, and parks to choose from.

The area is home to many historic buildings, which make this city an ideal destination for families. The Armstrong Hotel, for example, was once the tallest building in the area and served as a U.S. Army barracks during World War II. With 45 guest rooms, it is convenient for families to explore the downtown. The location is also perfect for exploring the foothills, where you can enjoy the views of the Rocky Mountains.

In addition to being an important tourist destination, Fort Collins also has many attractions. The Soapstone Prairie Natural Area is a popular tourist destination. The park is home to the Lindenmeier Site, a stratified multi-component archaeological site that was once the city’s most famous component. The city has a council-manager form of government, with a mayor who serves a two-year term and a seven-member City Council. The mayor is elected by a voter, while six of the seven council members are elected for staggered four-year terms.
