15 Reasons Why you should Stay in Louisville Kentucky

May 12, 2022 | More: Why Travel to

If you’re looking for an urban environment that’s affordable and offers great job opportunities, Louisville, Kentucky is for you. The city is home to several prestigious universities, including Louisville University. There are several national universities located in Louisville, including the University of Louisville. The university offers a variety of programs and is consistently recognized as one of the top universities in the nation for student athletes. While you may not be able to visit all of the universities in the city, you can take advantage of free, zero-emissions buses and wide sidewalks.

For a more intimate stay, consider one of the hotels in downtown Louisville. The city’s hotels are located within walking distance of the waterfront and Museum Row. You can stay in a modern boutique hotel such as the Grady Hotel, or you can opt for an historic home and rent an apartment. Each option offers something unique and different. If you like art and culture, you’ll definitely love Proof on Main, the hotel’s restaurant. This hotel is also near the 21c Museum, which houses the world’s largest collection of contemporary art.

The downtown area of Louisville is another popular attraction for tourists. The city is home to the second largest collection of cast iron buildings outside of Soho in New York. Be sure to bring a magnet so you can identify these historical buildings. Another popular attraction is the Riverfront Plaza, an elevated park overlooking the Ohio River. You can see statues of George Rogers Clark and plaques detailing the Lewis and Clark Expedition. There’s also plenty to see and do in Louisville.

The Old Louisville neighborhood is one of the city’s prettiest and most picturesque. This neighborhood is a great place to play Pokemon Go. The famous St. James Court is the perfect place to start. If you’re looking for a more quiet atmosphere, head to the historic Cave Hill Cemetery, which is home to the city’s most beautiful cemetery. The grounds are filled with garden statues, mausoleums, and more.

The Louisville Jefferson Railroad Bridge is another must-see while visiting the city. Built in 1868, it connected Louisville with Jefferson, Indiana. After rail service ended in 1968, the bridge was unused for many years and remained unconnected to the land for decades. This shortened its lifespan, earning it the nickname “The Bridge That Goes Nowhere”. However, in 2013, the bridge was reopened as a pedestrian bridge as part of the Louisville Waterfront Project.

Art lovers will be delighted by Louisville’s art museums. From ancient to modern art, there’s a museum to suit every taste. Art museums are a great indoor activity for foul weather days. If you’re a museum lover, you should check out Louisville’s Speed Art Museum. It’s the oldest and largest museum in the city. Travel & Leisure Magazine recently named it “World’s Most Beautiful New Museum.”
