If you’re planning a trip to Montgomery Alabama, you might have some questions about the city. If you’ve never been before, here are some things you should know. First, if you’re a history buff, there are several museums to visit. The NewSouth Bookstore is a great place to find books on Southern history and literature. Another museum is the Rosa Parks Museum, which covers the Civil Rights era and features exhibits from people associated with the Montgomery bus boycott, which lasted from December 1955 to May 1956.

If you’re interested in culture and history, you should visit Montgomery. There are several museums and historical attractions, including the Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum, which is located in the former home of the famed writers. The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts showcases works by local and international artists. You can also visit Chris’ Hot Dogs, a traditional diner that serves classic American fare. You can also check out pop-up events at the nearby Railyard Brewing Company.

Riverfront Park in Montgomery offers plenty of activities for families. This riverfront park is a great place to bring children, as you can take them on a 19th-century passenger boat. If you’re in the mood for a musical performance, you can also take a dinner cruise on the Harriott II riverboat. A Splashpad is a popular feature of this park. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, or just want to spend a relaxing day with family, you’ll find something fun to do in Montgomery.

For the most affordable options, try the Cahawba House for a delicious butter biscuit. For $1, you can order a biscuit topped with local honey, organic maple syrup, jam, and apple wood smoked bacon or pimento cheese. You can even visit the home of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, who returned to this city in 1931 with their daughter Scottie. Despite the influx of tourists and visitors, Montgomery’s poverty rate remains high.

The State Capitol is an important landmark in the city. It was completed in 1851 and features Greek Revival and Beaux-Arts influences. It is located downtown on what was once called Goat Hill. The building is also a National Historic Landmark. Inside, you can explore the building’s museum and learn about the state’s politics. During the Civil War, the State Capitol was the seat of the Confederacy’s government, and its Senate chamber was where the country’s first Confederate soldiers were born.

The Legacy Museum is another must-see attraction in the city. It is located on the site where thousands of slaves were warehoused and the railway station that supported the slavery trade was situated near the museum. You can also view his stage costume and autographed records. The museum is well worth the trip to Montgomery. A visit to the Legacy Museum will surely bring tears to your eyes. Once you’ve seen the museum, be sure to take the time to explore the history of Montgomery, Alabama.
