Salem, Massachusetts is a great place to visit with a child. The town is best known for its 1692 witch trials, which saw several locals executed for practicing witchcraft. You can see the famous Witch House, where the judge presided over the trials. Or, you can check out the Peabody Essex Museum, which is home to an enormous collection of global art and artifacts. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also check out the rebuilt Qing-era Chinese house.

The historic district of Salem is filled with buildings dating back to the 17th century. You can take a one-mile tour of the area on the McIntire Historic District, named for the famous local architect. Upon exiting the trolley, you’ll be greeted by a wheat sheaf, symbolizing the prosperity of Salem. You can also hire a bike to explore the area. It costs about $1 per day and can be easily found throughout the town.

In the heart of Salem, you’ll find the House of Seven Gables, a beautiful wooden mansion dating back to the 1660s. This landmark is most famous for its role in the novel The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. You can also find a statue of Hawthorne nearby. If you’re looking for a good dining experience, try Bambolina. The pizza is wood-fired and served fresh daily. The Gulu-Gulu Cafe is a great spot for brunch. The ambiance of the place is amazing, and the menu is extensive and offers everything from savory breakfast to a full dinner.

While there are a lot of historic sites in Salem, you’ll want to take advantage of the pedestrian-friendly downtown. There are many attractions that are within walking distance and the sidewalks are generally uneven, so make sure to wear sturdy shoes! You can also check out the Salem Lyceum, which was built after the death of its owner, a wealthy businessman named John Hathorne. And, if you’re a book lover, you should consider a trip to the library to learn more about this intriguing place.

The Salem Inn is an old-fashioned hotel with charming decor. Its wood-paneled lobby is the perfect place for a quiet dinner. It is also located close to the town’s downtown, making it a perfect place for a romantic getaway. There are numerous options for hotels in Salem. Depending on your budget, you can even find a cheap hotel in this region. The Hawthorne Hotel is a great option for families, especially for couples.

When visiting Salem, you’ll want to make sure you book a hotel in advance. Booking ahead of time is highly recommended, since you’ll be spending a lot of time in the town. If you’re unsure of what to do in Salem, you can visit the North Shore Medical Center. Besides the North Shore Medical Center, there are several important economic sectors in the town. Its main hospital is Salem State University, the second largest public university in Massachusetts.
