Dover is the capital city of Delaware and is located on the southern shore of Delaware Bay. Dover is the only US city to host NASCAR races, and it is also home to the First State Heritage Park, which includes several sites centered on the centuries-old Green. The Biggs Museum of American Art is also located in the First State Heritage Park. Dover is home to a NASCAR race track, the Dover International Speedway, and the Air Mobility Command Museum. If you love wildlife, the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge is a must-see.

The city’s Old State House has a painting of George Washington on the second floor, and is also home to the Samuel Burris Underground Railroad conductor who was freed by an abolitionist. The Old State House is also home to the Mabel Lloyd Ridgely Museum, which highlights women’s rights and the history of the region. The area is home to many farm animals and the Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village, which features baby chicks and other livestock.

If you have little ones, there are plenty of parks for them to visit. The Dover State Park has walking trails, a playground, and picnic shelters. During the warmer months, you can enjoy the water. You can also feed the ducks and geese that roam the park. There are several nice hotels in Dover. You can spend the day outdoors at the Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village. While you are visiting Dover, make sure to check out the surrounding nature reserves.

If you want to learn more about Dover’s history, visit the First State Heritage Park Welcome Center. This historic site protects some of the city’s most notable historical buildings and sites. The museum features a collection of artifacts and exhibits that will give you a great insight into the town’s history. During warmer months, you can also take a stroll through the park and feed the ducks and geese. You can even stay in one of the nice hotels located in the town.

The Dover State Police Museum is another great place for families to visit. Here, children can ride in police cars and solve crimes with the help of clues. Adults can explore the museum’s gun collections and memorabilia. There is also a market that features Amish food, which is a real treat for any family. If you love to shop and watch auctions, you will find everything you need in Dover.

The Old State House is another landmark worth visiting in Dover. Built between 1787 and 1792, the Old State House is one of the most impressive buildings in Dover. It is a beautiful example of Middle Georgian architecture and features a Palladian window, a geometric staircase, and chambers and courtrooms. A knowledgeable guide will be able to explain the history of these historic buildings. If you like nature, Dover is a great place to visit.
