15 Tourist Attractions in Fort Lauderdale Florida

March 24, 2022 | More: Fort Lauderdale Florida| Tourist Attractions

Situated on the southeastern coast of Florida, Fort Lauderdale is a popular tourist destination that boasts pristine beaches and boat canals. It is also home to The Strip, a stretch of ocean-side highway A1A lined with luxury hotels, restaurants, bars, and boutiques. For water sports, there’s the International Swimming Hall of Fame and Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, which features a lagoon and hiking trails.

Another fun attraction in Fort Lauderdale is the Fire and Safety Museum. Originally built in 1927, the museum offers a unique look at the lives of first responders during the hurricane. Although it’s no longer a fire station, it is now a museum for locals and tourists alike. There’s a lot to see and do, including hands-on activities for children. In addition to a fire truck and rescue vehicle, the exhibits at the fire station are interactive, so you can try your hand at being a firefighter.

You can check out the local art galleries and boutiques. The Downtown Art District is another hot spot in Fort Lauderdale. This vibrant area of the city is home to an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, and galleries. You can find everything from antiques to Greek food and anything in between. There’s also plenty of shopping to keep you busy on a rainy day. A quick trip to the Stranahan House, one of the oldest structures in the county, is an excellent way to spend the day.

As an added bonus, Fort Lauderdale is home to some of the oldest surviving homes in the country. In fact, the Stranahan House was one of the original settlers in the area, and later served as a town hall and community center. In 1984, the Stranahan House was opened to the public as a living museum. The living museum features artifacts from the past and explains how it helped shape the city today.

A trip to Fort Lauderdale would not be complete without a trip to the beach. The area is home to the world’s third largest barrier reef system, which extends from Port St. Lucie to Key West. The city is home to the largest of these, and is the most popular vacation destination in the state. This area is home to numerous attractions, including upscale Las Olas Boulevard, and the famous Las Olas Avenue, which is one of the most beautiful streets in the world.

A trip to Fort Lauderdale is incomplete without a trip to the Stranahan House, which is located in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Founded in 1795, the building was once a trading post and later a town hall. In recent years, it has been used as a restaurant and boarding house. Visitors will also find permanent and rotating exhibits at the Museum of Discovery and Science, which features educational programs and exhibits about natural history.
