October 25, 2021 | More: Tourist Attractions

Genoa is one of the most visited cities in Italy. Tourist attractions in Genoa include the Teatro Olimpico, Palazzo Reale, the Museo e Galleria Borghese, Piazza Navona, and Genoa Museum. Among the tourist spots in Genoa, the best known are the Piazza Navona, the Renaissance Palace, San Lorenzo Cathedral, and St. Croce Church. Here is a brief description about each of these tourist spots.

The Piazza de Ferrari is one of the busiest places in Genoa. It attracts people on foot and bicycle from all over the city. This is a perfect place to go for a sightseeing tour as the piazza has numerous art galleries, museums, monuments, and ancient buildings. The piazza is situated between San Lorenzo and Campi di Imperia. Two large squares, one on each side of the piazza, carry names of important historical figures and cities.

The second most famous place in Genoa, the piazza dei Cavalli is also known as the “central square”. It is located on the first floor of a row of offices. Within the square are several shops, restaurants, and public houses. It is the oldest public building in Genoa and is considered to be a famous meeting place for politicians, artists, writers, and others.

Next in the Genoa Palazzo d’Genoa is the famous Palace of Genoa. The palazzo is one of the largest in Genoa, housing the prime minister, the president, and other government officials. The residence is located on Via del Comercio. For tourists, this is the ideal place to spend a one day in Genoa. Tourists can enjoy a guided tour through the palace and learn about the history of Genoa and its role as a center for Italian politics and culture.

Of all the palaces in Genoa, the most famous is the Palazzo Reale, or the Royal Palace. Built in 1400, the palace was expanded after Genoa became a city. Today, it houses the Italian government, the Secret Services, foreign embassies, and museums. Another palace that may interest you is the Palazzo Reale Internazionale, or the old Town Palace. It was built during the Renaissance era and served as the municipal administration and police headquarters for the town.

Other interesting sites that you should not miss when going on a genoa itinerary are the Uffizi Gallery and St. Croce Roman Catholic Church. Besides, Piazza Navona, a square that has several statues of ancient leaders, is also a must see spot. If you are looking for great food, you will not go wrong if you visit the Pizzae Sant’ Anna Grottos, or Old Port. Genoa is truly a place to discover. You should not miss out on seeing these places and other special places when planning your trip to Genoa.
