15 Tourist Attractions in Lake Havasu

May 5, 2022 | More: Lake Havasu| Tourist Attractions

Located near the Parker Dam on the Colorado River, the southwestern Arizona city of Lake Havasu is a popular tourist destination. The water body offers great watercraft recreation and European history. While you’re here, be sure to explore the many attractions and activities at Lake Havasu State Park. Here, you’ll find three main activities: fishing, boating, and sightseeing. Take time to stroll through the park to enjoy the natural beauty.

While in town, you can check out the Lake Havasu Museum of History. This museum is jam-packed with artifacts and looks at the city’s history, as well as nature and wildlife. The museum was founded in 2000 and features a large collection, including Native American artifacts. Its collection is geared toward tourists, but you can also enjoy a movie under the stars while you’re there.

One of the city’s highlights is the London Bridge, a nine-thousand-foot-long bridge that connects the mainland to the island in the Colorado River. The bridge, which was originally part of the River Thames in London, inspired the song “London Bridge is Falling Down.” Eventually, the London Bridge was put up for auction as the world’s most expensive antique. Lake Havasu City bought the bridge and began construction brick-by-brick over sand. In order to make this bridge accessible to all, the Bridgewater Channel was dredged underneath the lake.

Birdwatchers will love the Bill Williams Wildlife Refuge. The Colorado River roars through a huge bend here, making it a favorite of birdwatchers. Kayaking along the river is also a popular activity. And don’t forget to check out the Dead Mountains Wilderness Area. Bighorn sheep, coyotes, and foxes live in this area. And you won’t be disappointed if you visit this area.

If you’re in the mood for a little adventure, try flyboarding. This water sport is unique, and is only for the bravest. The Lake Havasu City balloon festival takes place in January. You can even watch a spectacular firework display during the WinterBlast fireworks festival. If you’re visiting during these events, don’t miss the opportunity to take your family up on the adventure of a lifetime.

Hikers can take in the stunning views of the lake and the surrounding desert from various hiking trails. The “Slither Through the Crack” is one such adventure. This narrow, banded rhyolite lava flow offers a thrilling experience. Another fun hike is Mockingbird Wash, where you can see the infamous Seven Foot Dry Falls. The area is home to a number of famous artists, including Yayoi Kusama.

Cycling is a popular activity in Lake Havasu City. It’s an ideal way to explore the area and enjoy the scenic views. If you don’t have experience, a bike tour around Lake Havasu City is perfect for you. The staff at Cycle Therapy are welcoming, friendly, and ready to help. It’s important to plan ahead to get the most out of your trip. With these activities, you can make the most of your time in the region.
