If you are looking for a fun family activity, consider a visit to Las Cruces, New Mexico. Located only 41 miles north of El Paso, this city is home to a diverse, colorful population. Old adobe buildings are festooned with red chile pepper ristras, and locals wear turquoise and silver jewelry. Be aware that some businesses in Las Cruces, New Mexico may close temporarily due to global health issues.

For history buffs, the Museum of Nature and Science is the perfect place to visit. Here, you can learn about the Earth’s natural history, as well as how the stars and the planets have shaped the earth over millions of years. The museum has three permanent exhibits, including the Permian Trackways, Desert Life, and Light & Space. Once you’re done touring the exhibits, you can relax at a nearby coffee shop.

If you’re looking for live entertainment, consider the Fountain Theatre. Mesilla’s oldest movie theater, it’s located near the Plaza and dates back to 1905. This beautiful adobe building is a great example of traditional New Mexican architecture. The Mesilla Valley Film Society shows films at the Fountain almost daily. It’s also home to the oldest continuously operating movie theater in the state. There’s a full calendar of films in the Fountain Theatre each year.

Toucan Market: For more than a decade, this New Mexican market has been providing affordable, exotic foods to the city. Located in the heart of downtown, Toucan Market features everything from everyday needs to specialty items. You can buy nuts and snacks in bulk for economical prices. You can also buy specialty items and imported products from the country. Fresh baked goods are another great addition. If you are looking for a unique gift for a friend or loved one, this market might be just what you’re looking for.

For a more cultural experience, try a visit to the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum. This museum traces the region’s agricultural history over the past 3,000 years. Visitors of all ages can participate in activities such as dairy cow milking, fiber spinning, blacksmithing, and more. For families with children, the Museum also hosts educational programs and special events. There is also an open-air farmers market and craft fair held every Wednesday and Saturday. These markets feature fresh produce and handcrafted items from local farmers.

For art lovers, there are numerous museums in Las Cruces. If you are into art, you can visit the Museum of Fine Arts and Culture, which hosts regular art exhibitions and events. There are rotating exhibits that change frequently, so you can see something that you might not otherwise see. You can also check out the Las Cruces Farmers and Crafts Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are plenty of art galleries in Las Cruces, New Mexico to choose from.

The Roadrunner sculpture was created by artist Olin Calk in 1993, and its name came from the fact that it was meant to make a statement about public art. He used recyclable materials from local thrift stores and recycling centers to create the sculpture. The Roadrunner has become a symbol of Las Cruces, as locals recognize it when they are approaching their home. Located at the intersection of Mesquite Street, the Roadrunner sculpture is visible from all sides of the town, and visitors to the city can easily spot it.
