15 Tourist Attractions in Martha’s Vineyard

December 28, 2021 | More: Martha's Vineyard| Tourist Attractions

The Island of Martha’s Vineyard is 25 miles off the southeast coast of Massachusetts and is home to numerous islands. The area played an important role in the whaling industry, but today it is mainly a vacation destination. The island was inhabited by the Wampanoag tribe of Indians before Europeans arrived. The Wampanoag still reside in the area of Aquinnah, which was originally known as Gay Head until the spring of 1998.

There are plenty of places to visit in Martha’s Vineyard. The island has many historic sites, including the Moi Toi Gardens, the Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, and the National Park Service-designated Underground Railroad site at Edgartown Harbor. If you love nature, you’ll find plenty to do in the area, including hiking, biking, and kayaking. You can even try fishing, whale watching, and go whale watching. And if you’re looking for a unique getaway, you’ll be able to find lots of activities for the entire family.

The island offers unspoiled nature, sandy beaches, and water activities. Visitors can see historic lighthouses – including the West Chop Lighthouse and Edgartown Lighthouse – from the sea. During the summer months, visitors can enjoy arthouse and foreign films at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center in Oak Bluffs. You can also attend an exciting lecture series or dance performance. The film festival features movies and musicians from all over the world, and you can even meet the stars of Hollywood in person!

When visiting Martha’s Vineyard, make sure to check out the Lighthouse. There are five lighthouses on the island, and all of them are worth seeing. The lighthouses on the island were built in 1884 using bricks made of cliff clay. Before Europeans arrived, the Island was populated by the Wampanoag Indians. Several of them still live on the island. While you’re there, take some time to experience their rich culture.

Despite its relatively small size, Martha’s Vineyard is a must-see destination for people who love the outdoors. Whether you’re interested in history or art, the island’s attractions are sure to keep you busy for a while. If you’re looking for an authentic island vacation, the Martha’s Vineyard Tourism Bureau offers information about the island’s attractions and other activities. So, go out and explore the beautiful landscape and enjoy your vacation!

In addition to the beautiful beaches and scenic views, Martha’s Vineyard is home to many small towns, including the charming Menemsha village. While the town is a popular tourist destination, there are still plenty of things to do in the small town of Edgartown. You can walk along the harbor while admiring the stately white houses. You can visit the museum on School Street and learn about the history of the island. The museum in Edgartown is also worth a visit.
