There are so many things to do in Mashpee Massachusetts! Explore downtown and check out the many restaurants, boutiques, and art galleries. Alternatively, head to the quaint town center and find a quiet spot to sit and watch the people go by. You can find great dining options and live music in this charming town. If you’re a sports fan, you can play soccer, baseball, and basketball, or join a local league.

The Mashpee area was first settled in 1658 by English colonists, led by missionary Richard Bourne, from Sandwich. In 1660, the Wampanoag were allowed to remain in the English settlement. By 1665, they had a court of law and held trials according to English custom. In 2007, the town received federal recognition as a Wampanoag tribe. Today, it has one of the most diverse populations in the United States.

The town has a population of approximately 15,060 in 2020. Mashpee is the headquarters of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, one of only two federally recognized Wampanoag groups. The town is located along Monomoscoy Neck, Popponesset Island, and Seconsett Island. The town is located on the “upper” Cape Cod, approximately 65 miles south of Boston.

The Mashpee High School has a football rivalry with Sandwich High School. The two schools meet each other in the annual Thanksgiving Football Game. In the past, Mashpee has also competed against Cape Cod Regional Technical High School (CCR Tech) in the Thanksgiving Football Game. The teams represent Mashpee in the Eastern Athletic Conference and the South Shore League. The high school is home to the Mashpee Falcons, the city’s top sports team.

The Belfry Inn features a beautiful historic church and the Belfry Bistro is its premier restaurant. Located in the former church, the restaurant has gorgeous original design elements and a converted confessional, which serves delicious French-style dishes. Brunch, lunch, and dinner are available at the restaurant, and there are romantic jazz brunches on Sunday mornings. A variety of wines are available. This restaurant is a great place to enjoy a romantic meal with your loved one.

The town has a large green space where people can play a variety of sports, including soccer. If you love to play pick-up basketball or other recreational games, you can check out the town’s newest court. There are also many local parks for walking dogs. The town also has several parks, including a dog park right next to the pickleball courts. There are three separate areas in the park for walking, hiking, and running.

The Cape Sea Grille, located in a historic 19th-century captain’s house, is a popular restaurant on the Mashpee waterfront. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic, with white linen, candles, and fresh flowers decorating the tables. Locals and tourists alike will enjoy the steak frites and wood-fired pizzas served at this popular restaurant. Alternatively, if you’d rather dine out in Mashpee, you can try some of the many restaurants and shops.
