If you are visiting Monterey Bay California, you may be curious about its gay community. Fortunately, there are many events for LGBTQ+ travelers in the area. The most notable gay “scene” is located in Santa Cruz, which hosts annual Pride celebrations. Other events for gays and lesbians include weekly and monthly social get-togethers and the LezCruz group. For those interested in the LGBT community, the Monterey Peninsula also hosts a Pride celebration.

If you are interested in local art, Monterey’s Museum of Art features rotating exhibitions and a permanent collection of California art. The museum’s early California art, dating to before 1945, highlights the local history as an art colony. Lastly, you can visit the Salvador Dali Exhibition at the Monterey History & Art Association on Custom House Plaza. Featuring Dali’s sculptures, tapestries, and etchings, this exhibition is one of the largest private Dali collections on the West Coast.

Whale-watching trips in Monterey are a popular attraction. These tours depart from the town’s docks and beaches. You can see gray, humpback, blue, and killer whales. The more intrepid may see dolphins, porpoises, and fin whales, among other species. Also, seabirds and dolphins are common. If you are lucky, you’ll catch a glimpse of the majestic creatures as they migrate north.

Visitors can take in the views of the Pacific Ocean at the Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. This beautiful state park is south of Monterey on scenic California Highway 1 and has spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. There are many other activities to keep you entertained during your visit to the Monterey Bay area. A visit to Point Lobos State Natural Reserve will leave you feeling inspired and enthralled. There are several places to dine, and you may even see a dolphin or two while you’re there.

Cannery Row is an old street dotted with restaurants, boutiques, and marine activities. If you are planning a trip to the Monterey Bay area, be sure to include Cannery Row in your itinerary. The row is a great place to start your trip. You can even take a guided tour of the Cannery Row area, which takes about 1.5 to two hours.
