December 28, 2021 | More: Salem Massachusetts| Tourist Attractions

The city of Salem is famous for its 1692 witch trials, during which several locals were tried and executed for witchcraft. The town’s Witch House is a popular tourist attraction, and you can even tour the home of the trial judge! The Peabody Essex Museum has a vast collection of artifacts and global art. You can also visit the rebuilt Qing-era Chinese house. If you have a history buff in your family, the Peabody Essex Museum is the place to go.

A must-see in Salem is the Andrew-Safford House, which is part of the Peabody Essex Museum. This classic Federal-style mansion was constructed during Salem’s heyday. Its reconstructed interior is also worth a visit, as it depicts the life of a wealthy merchant. There are several interesting museums in the city, including the National War Memorial. There are even occult and antique goods.

While exploring the town, be sure to make time to visit the Misery Islands. Low-tide wading is the best way to get to the islands, which are tucked away in the Boston Harbor. If you have more time, visit the Peabody Essex Museum to learn more about Salem’s history. This museum features world-renowned artists as well as local art. It’s a great place for families to spend a day, and there are art classes for children to learn the basics.

The town is home to several historical sites. If you have an interest in colonial architecture, you can visit the Salem Mansion. The house was built in 1637 and has jaw-dropping interiors and a waterfront view. The town also has Nathaniel Hawthorne’s birthplace, which was recreated from Union Street in 1958. The garden is beautiful and has a lovely Colonial Revival style garden. Another beautiful neighborhood in Salem is the McIntire Historic District. It contains rare 17th century homes and a self-guided walking trail that is perfect for tourists.

The Punto Urban Art Museum is another popular attraction in the town. With over 75 large murals, the Punto is one of the most popular attractions in the town. Inside, there are also collective art pieces in the city. The entire city is a perfect destination for Instagram-worthy photos. The three-block radius of the museum is filled with these murals. There are also numerous other tourist spots in Salem. If you are looking for a place to see a beautiful fall foliage, you should visit the UNESCO Heritage Center.

For a more interactive and informative tour, there are several trolleys available in the town. The salem trolley is available throughout the downtown area for visitors to get a better sense of the town’s history. A tattered witch can be a tourist, so a few free tours are offered by the city. If you’re new to the city, a tour of the Satanic Temple is a great way to experience the history of the town.
