The town has its own mini-climate. The city is less windy than surrounding country, and the average temperature is 22 degrees in January and 73 degrees in July. Thermopolis State Park is another great attraction. Home to the largest mineral hot springs in the world, the park also features steam caves and indoor and outdoor hot water pools. If you’re looking for something a little more cultural, the Legend Rock Petroglyph Site is a great destination. This site contains 283 rock drawings that date back over 10,000 years. The state-operated bathing houses don’t charge an entry fee and are located near the river.

When visiting Thermopolis, Wyoming, don’t forget to explore the dinosaur museum. This non-profit organization conducts paleontology digs in the area and has a museum, gift shop, and a snack bar. Visitors can also participate in digs and enjoy fossil-digging programs. A visit to Thermopolis is not complete without a trip to the Wyoming Dinosaur Center.

Another great place to visit is the Hole-In-The-Wall Museum, located 19 km north of Thermopolis.
