March 16, 2022 | More: Escalante Utah| Souvenirs

Escalante Utah is a small city in central Garfield County, located in the south central part of the state. The 2010 census reported a population of 797. Currently, the city is home to several small businesses and the Escalante Recreation Center. Visiting the area is a great way to spend a day or an afternoon. If you are looking for a unique place to stay, try this one in Escalante.

During your visit to Escalante, make sure to check out the Devil’s Garden. This charming park is just a few acres, making it an easy hike for anyone. Even if you don’t want to take a full day to explore the park, you can spend about half an hour here. This small town is perfect for picnics or quick sightseeing. It is also home to a local high school and elementary school.

The first settlers in Escalante arrived in 1875, and their descendants have remained here ever since. They came to the area because of its mild climate and plentiful grazing land. The economy of the town revolved around timber harvesting, cattle raising, and mining. The early pioneers built about fifty brick homes, and today you can still find a few of these historic homes and landscapes. If you’re looking for a unique place to stay in Escalante, this is the place for you.

The Interagency Visitor Center is a great place to start. It is the information center for the entire monument. There are exhibits, photographs, dioramas, and other items that give a detailed history of the area. The staff at the center are highly knowledgeable and can help you plan your adventure. There is a small bookstore here, which also sells field guides and natural history and fiction books. This is a wonderful place to spend a few days.

Despite not being as prominent as other national parks in the state, Escalante is a great place to visit for an exciting trip to the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. It is one of the largest national monuments in the country and is a hidden gem that’s often overlooked. If you love slot canyons, this is the place for you. You’ll be glad you did! This is a wonderful place to go camping, especially in the summer.

If you’re into rockhounding, this area is a great place to visit. The town’s climate is mild and dry, with little rainfall each year. Typically, there are only a few hours of rain in the area each year. The rest of the year is more moderate, but still has its share of storms. For example, the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument receives an average of ten inches of rain a year.
