15 Typical Gifts from Fort Lauderdale Florida

April 12, 2022 | More: Fort Lauderdale Florida| Souvenirs

Fort Lauderdale Florida is a large city on the southeastern coast of Florida, known for its sandy beaches and boat canals. This city has numerous attractions, including the famous “Strip,” a promenade along oceanside highway A1A. Here, you’ll find upscale restaurants, boutiques, and luxury hotels. If you’re looking for a more laid-back atmosphere, Fort Lauderdale also has the International Swimming Hall of Fame, which has swimming pools and a lagoon.

According to the 2010 Census, the city’s population consisted of 74,786 households. Of these, 13.7% were of Hispanic ancestry, while 10.1% were Italian, English, or German. Another 12.3% were headed by a female without a husband. The remaining 52.4% were made up of non-families and individuals. One percent of residents were 65 and older. While Fort Lauderdale Florida is home to many people of African descent, the majority of the population is Hispanic.

The job market in Fort Lauderdale Florida has increased by 1.9% in the past year. And it’s expected to grow by 37.9% over the next ten years. That’s nearly four times faster than the national average. The city has a low unemployment rate, which helps offset the higher costs of living. The tourism industry is the driving force behind the local economy. In Fort Lauderdale, you can experience a fun-filled vacation or work on your career.

The Fort Lauderdale Antique Car Museum is another fun Fort Lauderdale Florida attraction. This museum features historic automobiles like Packards that predate the War. There’s even a Franklin Roosevelt gallery, vintage gas station signs, and cool hood ornaments. You can visit the museum on a weekday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. While visiting the museum, be sure to bring your camera – there’s plenty to see and do.

There are several ways to get around the city. Public transportation is easy to find. CSX Transportation and Florida East Coast Railroad operate passenger and freight trains, as well as commuter rail. Amtrak provides commuter service to other major cities along the Atlantic coast. Also, the Tri-Rail provides commuter rail between Palm Beach and Broward counties and Miami-Dade County. In addition to bus and trolley service, Fort Lauderdale residents can also find a host of restaurants.

The area around the city was inhabited by the Tequesta Indians before 1788. After the war, the area was developed further and the Coast Guard built a base. The city’s population grew during the early part of the 20th century. The Great Depression and the hurricane in 1926 brought many troubles to the area. However, with the redevelopment of the downtown area, it is now a booming city with a burgeoning residential sector.

One of the best things to do in Fort Lauderdale is to explore the city’s historic seaside promenade. This waterfront area boasts beautiful beaches, Mediterranean-styled buildings, world-class museums, and excellent dining. Whether you want to buy souvenirs for the family or treat yourself to an afternoon of fine dining, Fort Lauderdale has something for everyone. And when you want to spend a relaxing day out of the city, you can choose a hotel with a pickup and drop-off service.
