15 Typical Gifts from Gualala and Point Arena California

April 27, 2022 | More: Gualala and Point Arena California| Souvenirs

If you are thinking about visiting the coastal communities of Gualala and Point Arena in Northern California, you’ve come to the right place. Located on the Mendocino Coast, these two coastal communities offer many outdoor recreation opportunities, including hiking, biking, and kayaking. They’re also close to the Sea Ranch, where you can stay in a luxury RV. Here are some tips for planning your trip to Gualala and Point Arena:

The coastal hamlet of Point Arena is located about 14 miles north of Gualala, California. It is one of only four actual cities in Mendocino County and is one of the smallest. Incorporated in 1908, Point Arena was created to regulate the sale of liquor licenses. Point Arena has an interesting history as a small town with many buildings from the early 20th century. Its colorful plants and ferns are an important part of its character.

The area is home to the Central Pomo Indians and has been declared a national monument. The Point Arena community was listed in the New York Times’ “52 Places to Visit in 2014” list. Point Arena also has an arts center and two gas stations. While it is a small town, Point Arena offers a variety of shopping opportunities and restaurants. The Point Arena merchants association also provides a comprehensive map of the local area.

Besides the lighthouse, you’ll also want to check out Point Arena’s pier. The pier is 25 feet high, which makes it a perfect fishing spot. During the summer, you can take a guided tour of the lighthouse. Entry to the lighthouse costs $7.50 for adults and $1 for children under 12.

If you’re looking for a scenic hike, consider going to Gualala Point. The campground’s trail follows the Gualala River. It skirts the bridge and climbs to the visitor center. From here, you can admire the Point Arena Lighthouse and the two miles of coastline around Point Arena. Nearby Manchester State Park has a magnificent beach, and Bowling Ball Beach has rows of rounded boulders.

For a more active vacation, consider hiking or biking the Point Arena coastline. There are many hiking and biking trails along the cliffs and headlands. You can spend a long day on the beach, or explore the area’s wildlife and plant life. There are also many unique places to eat, drink, and see during your stay in Gualala and Point Arena. If you are a train enthusiast, the Skunk Train is a must-see!
