15 Typical Gifts from Kanab Utah

May 3, 2022 | More: Kanab Utah| Souvenirs

When visiting the state of Utah, you may want to check out the town of Kanab. The area is full of unique, unspoiled nature, making it an ideal spot for solo reflection or adventurous exploration. You’ll be able to choose from low-lying deserts, coniferous forests, and mountain ranges. If you’re limited in time, choose just one part of Kanab to explore. While you’re there, you may want to check out the Cowboy Water-n-Hole, a public swimming pool, and local exhibits on pioneer history.

The town has developed significantly over the years. It offers all of the conveniences you’d expect for a comfortable stay, and the area is also located near some of the most popular tourist destinations in the American Southwest. There’s something for everyone in Kanab, no matter what your interests. In addition to the beautiful scenery and friendly locals, Kanab boasts unique features that make it one of the best places to visit in the state.

If you’re looking for an authentic American western experience, Kanab is the place to be. The town is surrounded by towering Navajo sandstone cliffs and vistas of sagebrush. It’s not surprising that this town attracted filmmakers over the years. Several old film sets have become tourist attractions. A few buildings even boast movie posters and autographed photos. Kanab is a great base camp for road cycling adventures.

If you’re traveling with your dog, it’s a great idea to stay in one of the many historic motels in the area. If you’re traveling with a furry friend, you can spend the night in a tipi, or stay in a refurbished historic motel. This motel is a great place for pets and features dog-washing stations and modern bathrooms. You can even enjoy a complimentary breakfast here.

For those interested in hiking, Kanab has a variety of state parks and national parks. If you’re a big outdoorsy person, you can also check out the White Pocket, which is a sandstone formation found within the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. Make sure to get a permit for this hike in advance or at the Kanab Visitor Center. It’s a great place for families and dogs alike.

Buckskin Gulch is one of the most popular hikes in the area. At only 20 feet wide, the canyon is the deepest on earth. While the hike is not strenuous, it is a popular day hike and can be accessed through the Wire Pass Trailhead. The distance to the trailhead is only eight miles. It’s a great way to get in touch with nature and explore the beauty of Kanab.

Another place to visit near Kanab is the Toadstool Hoodoos. These golden sandstone formations are easy to reach and require a half-mile hike. These natural formations look similar to Stonehenge in their structure. Parking is available off the highway. Kids are welcome on leashes, so they’ll love these sand dunes. You can also visit the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, a 1,200-acre nature preserve.
