If you are a beach lover, you’ve probably heard of Lewes Delaware. This seaside town on the Delaware Bay is located in eastern Sussex County. As of the 2010 census, the city’s population was 2,747, making it one of the most populous cities in Delaware’s rapidly growing Cape Region. However, did you know that this small city has a thriving arts community? Read on to learn more about Lewes Delaware.

There are many free things to do in Lewes, Delaware. There are 68 different types of free and low-cost activities that anyone can enjoy, including National & State Parks, Fishing, Historic Sites, and History Museums. In addition to the free attractions, there are many places to visit nearby, such as Cape Henlopen State Park and Lewes Beach. These places offer a lot of fun, and many of them have all the amenities you could possibly want.

Another great place to find unique gifts is Lewes Gifts. This shop was founded in 2006 by Michiko Seto, a Jersey Shore native. She spent summers working at small businesses and dreamed of owning her own shop someday. She eventually went to school in Wilmington, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, and began her career in direct sales and banking. Since then, Michiko Seto has been selling unique items to visitors.

If you want to eat seafood or enjoy a unique atmosphere, visit Heirloom Cafe in a white Victorian home. The food at Heirloom Cafe is delicious, and the wine and cheese selection is incredible. There’s a wonderful cheese and charcuterie board to start your meal. If you’re hungry, try the pan-seared Ocean City scallops with roasted Dittmar Farm cauliflower and shaved leeks. There’s even a back alley mulberry gastrique.

The historic town of Lewes is home to several museums. The oldest building in the state is the 1885 Ryves Holt House. It served as an inn until the early 17th century. Visitors can explore the history of the town through the Ryves Holt House, which is credited as the oldest house in Delaware. The house also boasts a small gift shop, so you can buy souvenirs.

If you’re looking for unique gifts and souvenirs, try the Bungalow on 2nd street. Similar to Anthropologie, this boutique sells designer clothing, cute kitchen wares, bath and beauty products, and luxury living items. You’ll find many used boutiques in the historic center of Lewes, including The Jewelry Exchange of Delaware, which buys vintage and new jewelry. Treasures offers beach themed luxury wares and antiques.

There are many ways to get around Lewes. Delaware Route 1 passes outside the city limits at Five Points, where it intersects with DE 404 and DE 23. The Delaware Bay and River Pilots Association bases its headquarters in Lewes, and guiding cargo vessels to Philadelphia and Wilmington is also a common practice. Additionally, the University of Delaware College of Marine Studies is in Lewes. Finally, the Lewes Ferry is the southern terminal of the Cape May-Lewes ferry.
