15 Typical Gifts from Lexington Kentucky

May 9, 2022 | More: Lexington Kentucky| Souvenirs

Traveling to Lexington Kentucky? Be sure to visit the University of Kentucky! The campus of this historically important university is full of beautiful places, such as the iconic steeple at Memorial Hall and the Old Quad, which houses some of the oldest buildings in Lexington. For something a little more relaxing, you can check out the William T. Young Library, also known as Willy T by locals, which has an open atrium and outdoor flowerbeds. Lexington also offers a dazzling dining scene, including fried green tomatoes at Josie’s, and shrimp and grits at Bourbon n’ Toulouse.

Local LEX Market, located downtown, is a great place to buy gifts for the Kentucky lover in your life. Local LEX features artisanal products from over sixty craftspeople and includes home decor, apparel, bath and body products, and more. You can even purchase a bottle of bourbon from Woodford Reserve or a tour at Bluegrass Distillers, or try a vintage inspired University of Kentucky t-shirt from Wine + Market.

Joseph-Beth Booksellers is a beautiful bookstore that offers an eclectic selection of books. Black Swan Books is one of the most well-stocked rare and used bookstores in the city. You can even rent a bike while you’re there! And don’t forget to visit one of the local pubs and coffee houses. While you’re in Lexington, don’t forget to check out the local art scene, too. There are many beautiful pieces of art and crafts in Lexington.

The city of Lexington is home to several colleges and universities. The city grew rapidly during the 20th century, and many residential neighborhoods were built to accommodate the growth of the population. Downtown Lexington’s commercial district is an outstanding example of this city’s thriving economy. This area is home to two community colleges, two technical colleges, and the University of Kentucky. With all of these, Lexington is one of the most prestigious places to live in the United States.

If you have time, take a tour of Triangle Park. Located in the downtown area, Triangle Park hosts seasonal activities and live performances throughout the year. A 360-foot waterfall cascading from the center of the park is an impressive feature of the park. The fountain film series takes place every Wednesday night in the summer. For a taste of authentic American BBQ, check out the Blue Door Smokehouse. The restaurant is filled with hipster-style furniture, and you can enjoy a delicious meal while watching a movie.

You can explore the historical significance of Lexington by hiking in the park. A stroll through the cemetery is particularly interesting, as it is home to numerous monuments and historical structures dating back to 1775. The cemetery is filled with more than 16,000 tulips and contains Civil War statues and memorials. While you’re there, be sure to stop by the Kentucky Museum of Natural History. Its museum is home to Kentucky’s largest collection of Civil War monuments.
