The city grew rapidly during the 20th century, and many residential neighborhoods were built to accommodate the growth of the population. Downtown Lexington’s commercial district is an outstanding example of this city’s thriving economy. This area is home to two community colleges, two technical colleges, and the University of Kentucky. With all of these, Lexington is one of the most prestigious places to live in the United States.
If you have time, take a tour of Triangle Park. Located in the downtown area, Triangle Park hosts seasonal activities and live performances throughout the year. A 360-foot waterfall cascading from the center of the park is an impressive feature of the park. The fountain film series takes place every Wednesday night in the summer. You can explore the historical significance of Lexington by hiking in the park. A stroll through the cemetery is particularly interesting, as it is home to numerous monuments and historical structures dating back to 1775. The cemetery is filled with more than 16,000 tulips and contains Civil War statues and memorials. While you’re there, be sure to stop by the Kentucky Museum of Natural History. Its museum is home to Kentucky’s largest collection of Civil War monuments.
