The Kentucky Science Center is the largest hands-on science museum in Louisville, KY. The museum was established in 1871 and is the state’s largest science center. Formerly known as the Louisville Museum of Natural History and Sciences, the Kentucky Science Center consists of two buildings. The former is the Louisville Science Center, and the new one is located next to it. It is open to the public during daylight hours and is free to visit. Locust Grove is an 18th century farm located six miles from downtown Louisville. It is a National Historic Landmark and includes a Georgian mansion. It was once owned by Lucy Clark Croghan, sister of William Clark of the famous Lewis and Clark Expedition. Other notable figures who once lived in the mansion include James Monroe and Andrew Jackson. After extensive restoration, the Locust Grove was opened to the public in 1964. This historic site is worth a visit.
