If you’re in the Southern region, you should visit the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN. The museum is located in the same building as the Lorraine Hotel, where Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. If you’ve never been there before, you’re definitely missing out on an important part of Memphis’ history. It can take an entire day to visit the museum and learn everything there is to know about the Civil Rights Movement. It’s worth spending some time outside the museum to witness the historic event.

If you’re a music lover, don’t miss out on Beale Street, the city’s famed blues district. The two-mile stretch is lined with unique blues venues, each with its own fascinating story. At A. Schwab’s, you can dine on soul-stirring soul in a restaurant that’s been around since 1876. While you’re there, check out the Memphis Jazz Museum to experience the history of the city’s music scene and learn more about the country’s musical influence.

Another popular attraction in Memphis is the Peabody Hotel, where the famous ducks visit the lobby fountain. In addition to the Peabody Hotel, you should check out the Orpheum Theatre, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It hosts various performances of the performing arts and aims to encourage young people to pursue careers in the arts. The Peabody Hotel also features the famous Peabody Duck Walk. If you are looking for a place to stay while in Memphis, you may consider one of the numerous luxury hotels in the city.

The city’s history is intertwined with its music. It is home to many iconic artists who made their name in the music industry. The Memphis Music Hall of Fame features many artists from Carl Perkins to Justin Timberlake. Another place to visit is the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, which is located in the former Stax Records building. This is the only museum in Memphis dedicated to soul music. And finally, you should also pay a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum.

The Slave Haven Underground Museum is a great place to visit if you want to learn about the history of slavery in the South. The museum has interesting artifacts and a secret cellar with trapdoors and hidden passages. The Slave Haven Underground Museum is located in Downtown Memphis, which is considered the safest part of the city. You can easily get there with an Uber, but it is still best to book in advance.

The Mississippi River is one of Memphis’ biggest assets. Located on the Mississippi River, the city is located on a writhing bend. The Big River Crossing connects Downtown Memphis with West Memphis, Arkansas. Once you cross it, you’ll have a spectacular view of the city skyline. The city’s historic districts are encircled by magnificent monuments and statues. Memphis is truly a city on the move!
