15 Typical Gifts from Port Townsend Washington

June 9, 2022 | More: Port Townsend Washington| Souvenirs

Known for its scenic harbor, Port Townsend Washington is a picturesque town with a long and colorful history. Founded in 1830, the town was one of the first incorporated cities in the Pacific Northwest. The town was predicted to explode in population, making it the largest port in the Pacific Northwest. Locals responded by erecting beautiful Victorian structures. In the 1890s, the railroad finally made its way to the town and pushed its tracks all the way to Seattle. Today, the town is still a charming small town, which has kept its historical buildings intact.

The town is located about two hours north of Seattle. It is an old Victorian seaport, and is one of three on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition to its historical significance, Port Townsend has a cool downtown area with dozens of boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, and a variety of cool shops. Because of its proximity to the waterfront, it’s a great destination for families, and a great place to visit with children.

If you’re looking for a great hotel, consider the Tides Inn and Suites, which is located on the water. There’s a restaurant on-site, Alchemy Bistro & Wine Bar, which features oysters and raw bar. Café Tenby has a full tea menu, while Elevated Ice Cream Co makes ice cream and serves it. For breakfast, there’s the Blue Moose Cafe, which is open all day.

The arts scene is thriving in Port Townsend. With over a dozen art galleries and an art walk every month, you can find something you like at a local gallery. Port Townsend hosts the annual Port Townsend Film Festival every September. For live theater, you can catch many award-winning productions. You can also enjoy Shakespeare in the Park at the Key City Public Theatre. It’s a great place to catch a show or two!

Visitors should not miss Chetzemoka Park, located on a bluff overlooking Admiralty Inlet. It’s one of the town’s main attractions and is full of history. Chief Chetzemoka, a member of the S’Klallam tribe, welcomed settlers in the area. You can also see the old Fire Bell Tower. There are plenty of other places to go while visiting Port Townsend.

Port Townsend is a charming American seaport that boasts Victorian architecture and is one of only three Victorian seaports on the National Register of Historic Places. The main street of the city is lined with Victorian-era homes and is home to several historic buildings. If you want a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the Pacific Northwest, this charming town is the perfect place for it. You can enjoy outdoor activities and a friendly, relaxed vibe.

A day trip to Fort Worden is another option for a weekend getaway. It’s easy to get to the beach from Seattle or Tacoma and there are plenty of festivals to enjoy. You can even attend a wooden boat festival or a bluegrass and jazz festival. The city also offers two independent movie theaters, which have been upgraded to handle digital films. If you want to escape from the rainy weather, try exploring Fort Worden State Park.
