If you want to learn about the history of America, visit the city of Williamsburg, Virginia. Founded in 1699, the city was the capital of the Virginia Colony, and was an important player in the American Revolution. Together with Jamestown and Yorktown, this historic city forms the Historic Triangle. The historic district, Colonial-Williamsburg, is a living history museum, where actors in period costumes depict Colonial life.

While you are in town, take a look at Bassett Hall, which was constructed in the 18th century. The Rockefellers intended for Colonial-style homes to educate visitors about the town’s history and culture. This was one of the most successful historical recreation projects in United States history, and Bassett Hall is a testament to their success. The city has a rich history, and it’s a must-see destination in Virginia.

The restored buildings in Williamsburg are an excellent place to start exploring with kids. You can listen to Jefferson’s music, watch 18th-century dancers, or take a stroll through other shops and buildings. If you plan to stay longer, you can even purchase a two-day pass. To avoid having to pay full price for a two-day pass, make sure to buy at least a week’s worth of tickets.

While historically a Republican city, Williamsburg has voted for the Democratic candidate twice in recent years. In the 1960s, the city backed Bill Clinton and Lyndon Johnson, but in the 1990s, it voted for George W. Bush. The Green Party candidate Ralph Nader won the county during both of Clinton’s campaigns, but as a left-wing protester. And in 2000, it was George W. Bush who won the city narrowly, and he also made a point to visit the area.

Aside from the historic landmarks and buildings in Williamsburg, there are many other places to shop. A good place to go for a gift is the Mermaid Books in downtown Williamsburg. Located on the lower level, Mermaid Books is a great place to browse for a book. There is no alphebetic system, and the selection of books is diverse and varied. You can also browse for a good amount of time.

The city of Williamsburg is home to many unique museums and shops. The Halberd, a decorative piece with no firing mechanism, has been a popular gift since the 17th century. Other interesting items to purchase in the gift shop include souvenirs from African crafts and handmade pieces by local artisans. Regardless of your tastes, you’re sure to find something that she’ll love. If you’re looking for a souvenir that’s both unique, you’ll love the museum’s shops in Williamsburg.
