Eatonton is the county seat of Putnam County, Georgia. It has a population of 6,307 people. It was named for William Eaton, an officer and diplomat during the First Barbary War. The name of the town is made up of the surname Eaton, with the English suffix “ton”, which means “town.” The city was first incorporated in 1837. In the early 1900s, Eatonton was considered a suburban town, which is one of the main reasons it is called an affluent town.

The city’s population is approximately 375 people per square mile. Its area is 20.6 square miles and 327 people per square mile. The nearest large cities with populations over 50,000 are Atlanta, GA and Macon, GA, which are both 65.8 miles from Eatonton. The population of Atlanta, GA is 416,474, while Chicago, IL is 639 miles away. The city’s population has changed by 375 (+5.9%) since the last census.

Despite the low number of residents, Eatonton is a lovely place to visit. The area has a lot to offer. In addition to the city’s unique history, Eatonton is a beautiful spot for hiking, bicycling, and sightseeing. There are many attractions in the area and plenty to keep everyone occupied. The town’s museum has an exhibit on Walker, as well as several items from her childhood. The art center has a lot of information about the famous writer. It also has an outdoor sculpture garden, and it has many art galleries.

If you are looking for a place to explore the local history, consider visiting the Uncle Remus Museum. This museum is named for the author. The exhibits in this museum are all related to Uncle Remus. The exterior of the building is made to look like a log cabin. It is a symbol of the slave cabins in the American Civil War.
