The city of Escalante, Utah, is a small town in central Garfield County. It is located along Utah Scenic Byway 12. The 2010 census recorded a population of 797 people in the town. The town was incorporated in 1876, and the first brick home was built in the community. Today, there are 95 houses standing in the town.
