March 22, 2022 | More: Places to Visit

Located on Florida’s southeastern coast, Fort Lauderdale is a city that attracts tourists from all over the world. With beaches and boat canals, this city offers a variety of recreational activities to visitors. Promenades such as The Strip, which spans the oceanside highway A1A, are lined with upscale restaurants, bars, boutiques, and luxury hotels. For those who aren’t ready to hit the beach, there’s always the International Swimming Hall of Fame, which features pools and other aquatic activities. There’s also the Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, which is a natural park with trails and a lagoon.

For history lovers, there’s the Stranahan House Museum, the oldest surviving home in Fort Lauderdale. Built in 1912, this building was once a trading post and community center before serving as a town hall and community center. The Stranahan House Museum opened its doors to the public in 1984 and is now a living museum that tells the story of Fort Lauderdale. You’ll learn more about the city’s history and see a beautiful example of American architecture.

For those looking for some history, the Bonnet House Museum and Gardens is a great option. Built in 1927 by Frederic and Evelyn Bartlett, the building was once one of the few buildings in the Fort Lauderdale area. Inside, you’ll find art and architecture that is unique to Fort Lauderdale. A lush courtyard provides a picturesque backdrop to the property, while the natural South Florida jungle makes for a great backdrop.

For those looking to explore the area on a bike, Fort Lauderdale offers a variety of options. The city has bicycle lanes and offers bike rentals for visitors. The Broward BCycle program, a county initiative, makes it easy to rent a bicycle in the city and ride it anywhere you want to. The cost of a Broward BCycle is $5 an hour, with a maximum price of $25 for the day.

The city is home to 23 miles of coastline and some of the world’s best beaches. The clear waters are perfect for swimming, surfing, and other water sports. In addition, if you’re looking for a place to relax for a while, the Young At Art Museum displays the creativity of young minds. In fact, it has been voted the “Best children’s museum” by Child Magazine. Moreover, it features interactive exhibits and a plethora of local and foreign-owned shops.

The city’s many attractions include the Seminole Indian Tribe and the Big Cypress National Preserve. These areas are both full of wildlife and interesting historical sites. For those who are interested in the area’s history, a visit to the visitor center is a must. Besides this, the museum has a visitor’s center that contains information on the region. At the center of the preserve, visitors can explore the boardwalks and rent kayaks.
