If you’re looking for a unique place to live, consider Georgetown, Colorado. Georgetown is a territorial charter municipality and is the county seat of Clear Creek County. Located near the Missouri River, Georgetown has a small, picturesque downtown and many unique things to see and do. If you’re new to Georgetown, you should start by learning about the city’s history and culture. You’ll find the city is home to the Clear Creek Conservatory, as well as numerous outdoor activities.

Historic hotels are another reason to visit Georgetown. Its old mining town has well preserved Victorian buildings that can be admired. In addition to the historic Georgetown Hotel, there’s a scenic lake in the area and several great hiking trails. The town of Georgetown is only a few hours’ drive from Glenwood Springs and is worth a visit. Georgetown is the perfect base for exploring the surrounding ghost towns, including Silver Plume, and is home to several museums.

In the winter, ski resorts are just a few miles away. The Loveland Ski Area, 13 miles from Georgetown, is a local favorite. With 1,800 acres of terrain spread across the Continental Divide, it’s easy to see why Georgetown is so popular. The resort receives an average of 422 inches of snow per season. There’s no shortage of activities to keep you busy in the winter. If you love history, Georgetown is the place to go.

Art galleries and museums in Georgetown are a great way to find art in a historic environment. Georgetown was founded as a mining town and rapidly grew after the railroad came to the area to pick up the silver. Despite the growth, the town has managed to retain the town’s history and culture. The Colorado Mountain Art Gallery, a cooperative gallery, features the work of more than thirty local artists. Grizzly Creek Gallery features sculptures, including a historic train, and Georgetown’s own brewery.

Located just 45 miles from Denver, Georgetown is an authentic piece of history in the mountains. Located along the way to Guanella Pass, the town is well-located for scenic mountain hikes. The Rose Street Bed & Breakfast is an excellent option in Georgetown, a historic district that is surrounded by nature. The rooms are well-appointed and feature a wood-burning stove. The hotel has an on-site restaurant and a pub.

The town was founded during the era of the Pikes Peak Gold Rush. After the discovery of silver in 1864, Georgetown became a booming center of commerce and residence. In the late 1800s, Georgetown boasted a population that was 10 times larger than it is today. This gave Georgetown the title of the “Silver Queen” of Colorado. The city has many attractions for visitors to enjoy throughout the year. You can spend an afternoon relaxing in the Argentine Pass or enjoying a day of sightseeing along the Georgetown River.
