If you’re looking for a vacation spot on the shores of Cape Ann, look no further than Gloucester, Massachusetts. This coastal city features a rich fishing heritage and is home to the town’s famous Good Harbor Beach. It stretches out to Salt Island at low tide and boasts the names of sailors lost at sea. The city is also known for the Hammond Castle Museum, which once belonged to inventor John Hay Hammond Jr.

The harborwalk offers the best views of the city, while the Fishermen’s Memorial is home to a statue of a fishermen who drowned at sea. Along the harbor, you can find 42 granite pillars carved with stories of Gloucester’s history. While you’re at the Harborwalk, you can relax at Good Harbor Beach or Wingaersheek Beach, which both feature lifeguards and restrooms. You can also find plenty of activities to keep you busy while you’re here.

High tide is the best time to spend on the beach. You can surf the waves with boogie boards or use a body board. Lifeguards are present during high season, and there are restrooms and showers available. However, parking is usually difficult during busy weekends. During the summer, there is a concession stand that sells snacks. There are also restrooms and showers, but remember to take your trash with you. You’ll need a car or scooter to get around Gloucester, so make sure to arrive early if you plan on using the beach.

However, it can get chilly near the water, so it’s best to avoid the busy summer months if you can. On the other hand, June and September are shoulder seasons. If you’re visiting the area during these months, be sure to check out the famous Blue Collar Lobster, which features a huge lobster roll overlooking Gloucester Harbor Cove.

If you’re looking for an affordable home in Gloucester, the city has several neighborhoods with varying price tags. Downtown Gloucester offers amazing coastal views and is highly walkable. While Annisquam Realty offers a suburban coastal feel, Riverview has more historic buildings and a more urban feel.
