May 9, 2022 | More: Places to Visit

If you have never visited Lexington, Massachusetts before, then you are in for a real treat! This historic town is located just northwest of Boston and is known for its Battle Green, also known as Lexington Common. It was here that the first shot of the American Revolutionary War was fired, as well as the Revolutionary Monument and Minuteman Statue. The town is also home to the Hancock-Clarke House, which documents the town’s role in the revolution. You can even see reenactments of the events that happened here!

The Colonial Inn offers a cozy and historic setting in the center of the city, and the Battle Green in downtown Lexington is the site of the famous Lexington Minuteman Statue. Nearby, the National Museum of Scotland, located at 33 Marrett Rd., is an interesting place to visit if you are interested in Scottish history. You can also visit the Minuteman Bikeway, an 11-mile paved path through the cities of Arlington and Cambridge. There are also several historic places to visit in the town, including the quaint downtown area of Wayside.

A large number of restaurants and shops in Lexington are open to the public. Among them are the Meriam Hill neighborhood, the Irish Village, and the Loring Hill area. You can also visit the nearby Wilson Farm, which has an extensive flower nursery. There, you can pick up a wide range of flowers and plants for your garden. And if you want to dine out, consider dining at one of the many restaurants on Lexington’s Green.

The Old Burying Ground has gravestones from the 1690s. Many Revolutionary War soldiers were buried in this site. Aside from the Old Burying Ground, you can also visit the Lexington Museum of Fraternalism to learn more about the history of Freemasonry. It is located just west of the Battle Green. The Old Burying Ground is accessible from Harrington Road, next to the church. All of these places will allow you to explore the rich history of the city and the surrounding area.

While you’re in Concord, don’t forget to check out the famous lemongrass restaurant in the town center. At the other end of town, you’ll find the Toy Shop of Concord, which is located at 89 Thoreau St. The toy store is owned by locals. There’s also a thriving market on Monson Rd. off Route 62. You can also take the Liberty Ride to see the town from above.

During the Cold War, Lexington was an important city, hosting the USAF’s “Experimental SAGE Subsector” in the 90s. This project focused on establishing a computerized national defense system. Being in New England, Lexington experiences extreme weather throughout the year. While the city has a mild climate, snowfall can be heavy in some parts of the city. As a result, you may want to plan your activities accordingly.
