In addition to its scenic beauty, Three Rivers Park is open every day from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
If you’re visiting during the holidays, Market Square is the most beautiful. There are holiday markets and pop-up events every season, and chairs positioned on the sidewalks provide an excellent spot for people watching. There are plenty of places to dine, including Pizzaiolo Primo, Morton’s Steak House, and McCormick and Schmick Seafood. There are also numerous craft breweries in the area, which you can check out if you’re feeling thirsty.
For those who love science, Pittsburgh is home to the Heinz History Center. The museum is housed in a post-industrial building that was once the Chautauqua Lake Ice Company Building. The museum’s exhibits are incredibly detailed and informative, chronicling Pittsburgh’s history as a glass workshop and a center for innovation. There’s even a western Pennsylvania sports museum, complete with artifacts, films, and interactive shows.
For a night out, head to the famous Penn Brewery. Penn’s taproom is open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For a more extreme thrill, check out Monongahela Incline. Andy Warhol Museum: World-renowned artist Andy Warhol was born and raised in Pittsburgh. This museum honors his legacy by featuring his work. It showcases his early years in art school as well as his work painting global VIPs. The museum also presents exhibitions that challenge traditional art traditions. You’ll find a wealth of Warhol artwork, as well as avant-garde performance art. The museum also hosts artistic workshops. This museum is definitely worth visiting.
Duquesne Incline: This historic cable car was originally built in 1877. It was saved from demolition in 1963 and fully restored in 1964. The upper station offers stunning views of Pittsburgh, as well as an interactive museum. You can also take the Monongahela Incline, which departs from Station Square. And while in Pittsburgh, be sure to take a ride down the Duquesne Incline. This is one of the most picturesque places to see in the city.
