June 20, 2022 | More: Places to Visit| Rochester New York

When planning your trip to Rochester New York, make sure to visit the city’s museums and cultural attractions. You’ll find everything you need, right in the city itself. While the temperature in the summer and winter can be quite extreme, many events are planned around these seasons. Make sure you bring your car to get around the city, because you’ll want to experience as much of the city as possible. And don’t forget to check out the local restaurants and shops!

There are some must-sees in Rochester, including the 96-foot-tall High Falls. The falls are best viewed from the Pont de Rennes pedestrian bridge or the rooftop of the Genesee Brew House, the oldest brewery in New York State. Visitors can fly into the city’s international airport to get a flight to Rochester. And while you’re there, don’t forget to try Wegmans, often considered the nation’s finest supermarket chain.

Another place to visit in Rochester is Mount Hope Cemetery, the city’s first municipal cemetery. This cemetery opened its gates in 1839 and has buried hundreds of thousands of people, including notable citizens from Rochester. The cemetery’s grounds are beautiful, and you can take guided tours at various times of the year. If you’re looking for a place to relax after touring the city’s museums, be sure to visit one of Rochester’s outdoor parks.

When visiting Rochester, don’t forget to check out the area’s entertainment. The city’s Fringe Festival takes place each September. Known as the third largest Fringe Festival in the world, this festival features over 500 different performances and events in downtown venues. It’s the perfect place for an evening of music, dance, and comedy. If you love live theater, Rochester’s Fringe Festival is a great place to catch a show.

If you want to see art, head to the Rochester Museum of Art. This world-class museum houses over 8,000 different pieces of art, including a collection of “O” Gauge model trains. There’s also a collection of historical photos from the Eastman Kodak Company, and a huge Gabriel Cromer collection of American paintings. You can walk around the historic districts and visit the museums, but be warned, the weather can be hot! It’s often over 90 degrees Fahrenheit in summer!

If you have small children, there are plenty of activities for them to enjoy. Families can visit the Strong Museum of Play, a one-million-square-foot museum devoted to children’s play. Kids can explore exhibits on Berenstain Bears, Sesame Street, Wizard of Oz, and more. For a more interactive experience, try out one of the many rides on the grounds. And don’t forget to grab some food, because the cafe is family-friendly and the museum serves refreshments.
