If you haven’t yet visited Syracuse, New York, you’re missing out. This Eastern United States city is named after a historic Sicilian city. It’s the fifth largest city in the state and is situated in the Finger Lakes region. Here are some of the things you should do while you’re in town. Read on to discover what makes this vibrant city so special. Once a frontier town along the Erie Canal, Syracuse has been transformed into a hub of creativity, learning, and championship athletics. The city is also a thriving downtown full of beautiful 19th century buildings and public squares.

If you’re into art, head to the Everson Museum of Art. This art museum is located right downtown in Syracuse and has a fantastic collection of American and European artwork. For families, there are also miles of vehicle-free paved trails for hiking and biking. There are also several other museums in Syracuse. While there are not many amusement parks in Syracuse, the nearby City Park is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon. While visiting, make sure to bring your family.

For a day of nature, try visiting Green Lake State Park. The park was once home to a massive glacial waterfall, and the remnants of this natural wonder make for a picturesque scene. The plunge pool and waterfall are unique features in this park. The Museum of Science and Technology is another great place to visit if you have a little time to spare while exploring downtown Syracuse. While there, don’t miss a tour of the beautiful downtown areas and the iconic Syracuse, NY, architecture.

Downtown Syracuse has many attractions and historic attractions. One of the most popular spots is Clinton Square. This historic square is surrounded by beautiful 19th century architecture. You can browse the shops and restaurants here or visit the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. In summer, the farmer’s market takes center stage, and you can attend many local festivals held in the square. It’s also home to the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, a famous restaurant chain.

While in downtown Syracuse, don’t forget to stop by Carrier Dome, which is the largest dome stadium in the northeast. The stadium holds all major sporting events, including basketball and football. This is a fantastic place for fans of college and professional sports. Its IMAX screen is 60 feet tall! It’s also home to the Syracuse University Orange NCAA Division I football team and is the largest on-campus basketball arena. While in Syracuse, take in the local culture by attending one or all of the city’s many cultural events.

The city of Syracuse is full of history and culture. Downtown Syracuse is home to the Syracuse Museum of Art. This was the city’s first art museum dedicated to American art, and it regularly hosts special exhibitions and temporary exhibits. It’s open Wednesday through Sunday. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, you can get free admission and explore the galleries on a budget. Also, the third Thursday of the month is free! There are free admission days throughout the year.
