There are a number of campgrounds in the area, including two for RVs and one for tents. The campground has a variety of amenities, including heated showers and restrooms. You can explore historical buildings, as well as enjoy the beautiful views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. And if you&#8217;re staying at one of the Fort Worden campgrounds, you&#8217;ll be near the Marine Science Center, Point Wilson Lighthouse, and the downtown area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While in Port Townsend, you can visit the Jefferson Museum of Art and History, which features 3 sites covering the history of the town&#8217;s early settlers, Native Americans, and maritime activities. In the historic 1892 city hall, the City Council still meets, but you can visit the lower levels and check out the museum. The museum&#8217;s jail cells, now an art gallery for regional artists, are a popular talking point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have time to explore the downtown area, you can head to the waterfront to sample local food. Whether you prefer local fare or international dishes, the waterfront restaurants are sure to satisfy your craving. And if you&#8217;re a coffee lover, you can hit up one of the local breweries for a cup of joe or a heavenly cup of espresso. If you&#8217;re looking for a night out, the Rose Theatre and other local arts and culture venues are also a must-see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Port Townsend area is home to several quaint, historic buildings. The town has two artists&#8217; collectives, and you can visit them to see what they have to offer. While you&#8217;re downtown, you can also visit the History Museum or enjoy a monthly Art Walk. There are also numerous galleries and museums to check out, including the Port Townsend Art Museum. In September, Port Townsend holds an international film festival. The Uptown Theatre shows contemporary films, while the Rose Theater is a great venue to watch family friendly movies. Key City Public Theatre is also a great venue for live theater, presenting award-winning productions and events. You can even catch a performance of Shakespeare in the Park during the summertime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A historic fire bell tower, known as the Port Townsend Bell Tower, stands on the peak of the town. Built in the 1890s, the tower was used to summon volunteer firefighters to fight fires in the town. The Jefferson County Historical Society restored the tower in 2003. The Helena Bell Tower also served the same purpose in the late 19th century.
