Some of the highlights are the Segesser Hide Paintings, the State Seal, the Pancho Villa Clock, and a 16th century Morion helmet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For outdoor recreation, Socorro has numerous lakes and reservoirs. Elephant Butte Lake is the largest in New Mexico, and it is surrounded by red sandstone formations. The ghost ranch was finally purchased by Roy Pfaffle in 1928 after a poker game. Roy Pfaffle&#8217;s ex-wife Carol Stanely put the deed in her name.
